'BonusParticles' and 3.51 bombing

by more cowbell!!
hope someone can help me out here.

going 3.5 worked fine. going from 3.5 to 3.51 it bombs.

looking at the log, it looks like it's not finding 'BonusParticles' and tripping itself up all over the place.

This is the text I get when I try and launch:

1.Get the ECE bonus pack
2.Delete the chaosut*.ini's in /chaosut/system

then it should work, and you mus do it in that order

Cowbell,

I am sorry. I let you down. I got back late and did not have enough time to look into this more. And I appologize for that.

TKATK ,

I think he has tried to do that before, with the same results.

Does anyone know where the BonusParticles file is located? We know its on the ECE. It was used by our spirt/vegance effect and its causing the issue. I was hoping if someone could tell us where it was at, then we can have cowbell check his install to see if its there. I am at work so I can not check ATM :(

File location

The file is BonusParticles.utx in the ut2004\textures directory. I hope that helps you.

NO! I do not have a bonusparticals.utx in my ut04/textures file.

Would we be lucky enough for it to actually work if I just pasted it in there if someone sent it to me?

thanks for all the help and jb you are NOT letting me down. not to worry my friend, I'm just greatfull for the help.

If you're missing that file, chances are you're missing alot more than that. That package is part of the ECE additions to ONS. So if that didn't get installed, you won't have any of the new ONS maps, or the vehicles. You might want to consider the possibility that you got a defective copy of ECE.

hhmmm....i play ut04 ons all the time w/o incident but who knows. i'll go poke around and see what i can find. i get most of my files off file planet and it wouldn't be the first time i've been jacked up by a patch off their site. glad i pay for that service :x i'll let'cha know what's up once i get this thing nailed.

update::::::

thinking the evo patch i got from fileplanet was corrupt i dl'd from another site. same w/ 3.51 AND 3323. basically started w/ the reinstal of 3323 to evo. tested with positive results, same as before. game working great w/ 3.5. ok, here we go i think, and unpak 3.51. back to the game being broken. the patch hates me.

I just deleted my UT4 folder and installed ECE. Its always cleaner to do it that way, something I've learned from beta testing and developing for various projects over the years. As long as you keep your important data files backed up, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain with this method. In fact, regular reinstalls and repatching can be quite beneficial for any application.

ok, problem solved. i'm not sure where i got my copy of the ece, i thought fileplanet, but the file was smaller than the one in the link jedi provided. with the correct sized file, life is good and i'm back to my happy slashing.
thanks for all the help, i'm stoked.
