Chaotic Dreams

Maybe it is not a chaos problem, but it is worth a shot...

If someone is connecting to our ChaosUT2 Server, every file is going to be downloaded fine from the Redirection Server.
Except the ChaosESound files ....

We checked filesize, patch level, uppercase, lowercase ....

But no luck ....

Any idea ?

Edit : Ok, now it is working.. well .. kinda ...

It downloads for Example

ChaosESounds1.usx

THEN it is looking for ChaosEsounds1.usx

You might see that there is just a lower case s in the filename...

OK, I uploaded also the same files just with this small difference (Linux Server).

But why the hell is it downloading the files twice ? Is threre any setting I can make to be sure that only one file is downloaded ?

why are you redirecting default mod files? no one without the game already installed should even be joining. otherwise they will be DLing over 400MB of files one by one. The only thing that needs to be redirected is any mutator/skin/model files you may have installed extra on you server.

It is actually not so bad anyway .... It is downloading about 80 MB and everyone with standard UT can play on our server Which is quite cool ...

The problem though, nobody has of course the settings, like keystrokes etc..

But as this server is kind caln server with ONLY ChaosUT2 installed, people either know that this is a chaos server, or has to live with the download ..

But I just tested it with a standard UT installation and all necessary downloads have taken only 10 minutes ...

It is faster then download the whole mod (in case someone just want to try this mod before installing)

do you still get a re-direct on the sounds? (ie meaning an upper vrs lower case issue)?

Yes, I do .....

anyway you can show us a screen shot of this? like run it in window mode and do a CTRL+PrtScrn ?

maybe for both files as they DL (capital and lowercase).

I forget but is this a Linux based server?

Yes it is a Linux Server ... I have to reinstall my computer soon and then of course no Mutator are installed ..

I had this problem also when I set up my Linux server and my redirect . The two files that had probs were ChaosEsounds1.uax.uz2 and ChaosEsounds4.uax.uz2. I had to rename them ChaosESounds1.uax.uz2 and ChaosESounds4.uax.uz2. (Capitalized the "S") Everything else dloaded no problem.
