Chaotic Dreams

I have the module,
new to UT, so what exactly do I do with this module as clicking on it does nothing.

I already have Editors and 3339 patch so I downloaded 3.6 Patch but I have no idea what to do with it.

Ok the first question is did you install Chaos from the disk? If not my first recomendation would be to download the 3.6 full install. Thats the best way to do it. If you dont want to waite for the download then i would make sure that i installed Chaos from the disk then I would Install the patch.

Assuming you have the 3.6 full, and downloaded the umod version (which you seem to indicate), just unzip it and double click it and it should run an automated setup program.

LoQtUS: Thanks for the response. I installed the Chaos from the Editor's Choice version of UT, it came with a bunch of mods preinstalled with icons on my desktop and everything. So now I have this Patch Module which does nothing. To be honest, I don't really know how to install mods. But I thought this patch would be a sort of exe. but it just does nothing. Should I try the full 3.6 and try to install it over the installation I already have? (this may be off the track but the Unreal site says to install ECEbonus pack Before installing 3339 patch UT but the bonus pack will not install until UT is patched to 3339 and the patch tells you this. therefore, I did the ECEbonus after 3339 which might affect what version I have even though I have no problems with basic UT online.)

you could always get the ZIP version and extract that in your UT2004 dir. That should work as well...

Ok:

The version that was shipped with the ECE edition was cut down, so you are going to have to download the full version unfortunately (the patch isnt good enough). We/I apologize for the inconvenience, but thats how it goes.

That said, there are two versions of the full: umod and zip. The umod is an executable that should run upon double clicking, though occasionally the file association gets bugged, which sounds like it might have happened on your system. There is a way to fix it, however i dont know it off the top of my head. Thusly: its far easier to just get the zip file, heres a link: http://download.beyondunreal.com/filewo ... ll_zip.zip

To install:

1) right click the file, go to Extract all. When it asks what directory to extract to, select your base UT2004 folder, for instance mine would read C:\UT2004.

2) hit OK/Next. if prompted to overwrite (and you will be), select yes.

3) open up your UT2004 folder, then open the chaosut2 folder inside it, then the system folder in side that (ie UT2004\ChaosUT2\System). Delete ChaosUT2.ini and ChaosUT2user.ini

4) Start up the game and select the chaos mod, you might have to reconfigure stuff but you will now be at the latest version. Enjoy.

Clicking on the module does nothing,and a new problem has been introdouced with ECE 1.1 and the newest patch

if you install 1.1 ontop of the newest patch umods wont work,period


to fix it install the new UT patch again(Umods shouldnt in any way do nothing,even if it was there wasnt the base for a patch installed)

TKATK, I'm not sure I follow what you are saying with regards to what is 1.1 and which patch, the 3339? or ECE Bonus?

maybe just a step by step installation routine if its not too much trouble?

Well I unzipped and then just overwrote the files and it works fine. Thanks again. Only the servers were all empty cept for some bots. I'm kind've surprised as Chaos really improves the game or gives one more options. Anyway, is there a busy time for play?
