Erm...Hope I Didn't Miss This, But...

...I've just installed ChaosUT 3.6 on three different rigs (we're LANning up), exactly the same way, in exactly the same order (UT2004; CBmaps; ECE maps; 3339 patch; and ChaosUT), but only ONE of 'em has all the Chaos weapons defaulted on the maps! What gives?! Is there something in the settings that the one guy did and we didn't? Should I install everything in a different order?

Help!

(And if this is a common problem and/or has been mentioned elsewhere, I apologize and fully expect to be spanked and pointed in the right direction.)

Fester,

sorry for your trouble. Not sure I follow this:

"but only ONE of 'em has all the Chaos weapons defaulted on the maps! "

Does this mean that when you were playing only one PC (the one acting as the server) was able to see the weapons? Or if you all tried to play Instant action, then only got the Chaosweapons????

It is in the options when you load it up. Try to find it... If you use mutators, open up mutator options. If not, then just try the standard settings. Sorry I can't help anymore. But I distinctly remember that it's in the options.

Think something like this:

1. replace all weaps with chaos weaps
2. Switch btwn chaos and normal weaps
3. Normal weaps only...

Do you have serverpackages added?

Thanks For The Replies...!

jb - I mean that on (let's say) Antalus, my buddy has got all the wonderful Chaos weapons - not a normal old weapon in sight! But me and our other friend have only got the old standard UT weapons. And we all WANT the Chaos weapons! Waugghh! :x

General_Sun - I went into the mutators SPECIFICALLY for that purpose, and added "Chaos Evolution" but not "Chaos Arena" 'cause we wanted more than ONE friggin' weapon per map, yah? Besides the mutators page, I'm not sure where to look for weapons/maps options. I mean, on the map options page, all ya got is number of kills, number of bots, bot skill, etc., right?

TKATK - serverpackages? I'm not sure what/where those packs are, but I'm not running a dedicated server: is that what they're for?

First thing, is that, the person who is hosting needs to look at the correct ini file and make sure the correct "ServerPackages=" lines are there for the Chaos mod. If they weren't there, then I don't think you would be even able to connect.
As for the person hosting the server. If you are selecting a non-Chaos gametype, you need to add the mutator. So once it is added, toward the bottom of the screen there should be a button "Configure Mutators". Once you press that then there will be a window with a title like "ChaosUT2: Evolution" and a button underneath that that says something like "Configure Chaos" or something. Press that button. You are now in options for Chaos. I think towards the top left there will be a drop down menu to change the weapons from Chaos weapons only, switch out Chaos and normal weapons, and normal weapons only. Choose Chaos weapons only from the drop down menu. Click Save. There you have it.

Erm...no.

Halprin -

I'm sorry - if I'm doing something wrong or not doing something I ought to, I apologize, but: I've already gone into the "Configure Mutator" screen for Chaos Evolution, and there ain't no kinda menu, checkbox or anything (for weapons, that is).

Isn't/wasn't there a command line prompt in an earlier version of the mod to start a Chaos-exclusive game? What ought I to type into the shortcut to try this? "C:\...\UT2004.exe -gametype_ChaosUT" or something?

Still Shootin' Blanks,
Fester

P.S.

Everyone has left (LAN's over), but I'd STILL like to play with the bloody Chaos weapons, single OR multiplayer, oui? :P

the commandline is -mod=ChaosUT2

check UT2004/ChaosUT2/Help/Startme-In it click server setup-Look at the serverpackages,THE HOST NEEDS TO ADD THEM EVEN ON LISTEN SERVERS

Thanks, my friend - but, despite starting up with the Chaos splash screen and all, I've still only got ye olde weapons. I must have a buggered install. I'll just uninstall and put everything in from scratch.

Thank you all for your help, and I'll report back in a few (minutes? hours?).

Try this:

Delete your UT2004\ChaosUT2\System\ChaosUT2.ini and remove your UT2004\System\UT2004.ini file on the troubled computers. Restart the game in -mod=ChaosUT2 mode and reconfigure, see if that helps.

Hey Guys,

I'm just about ready to quit. When I reinstalled from scratch (put in the base game...the extra map packs...the patch...then Chaos), everything was happy in the lands.

However.

I've since had to switch some hardware around and, subsequently had to do a clean (Windows) install. *Windows* is running like a champ...games and all! Except...

...my BLOODY UT2004/Chaos install!! :x Same stuff all over again. And I've tried installing TWICE more from scratch: once with my schpanckity new UT2004 ECE discs, and once again with my original UT2004 DVD edition from way back in the day. Same install order...same results.

So once again - am I installing in the wrong order? Or: is there something...some line in an *.ini file I can change/tweak to force the Chaos weapons? I'm really just tired now.

Fester

P.S.
jeditobe1 and TKATK - I *did* follow your suggestion/server instructions, and I now have the weapons in a hosted game...but that doesn't change anything in my botmatches...which I like to do for the days between LANning. And anyway...it's just *weird* that the weapons aren't there in single-player, no?

Compat mode is in the chaosUT.ini and means that UT2004 weapons are left, unreplaced(should be false)

UT2004/ChaosUT2/System/Chaosut.log iirc
