Chaotic Dreams

Depending on the vehicle, I will usually die instantly upon entering them. I can drive the tanks, but a slight impact from another vehicle kills them instantly. The manta I can drive, but die instantly upon a slight impact with a hill, or other structure.

The new flying vehicles, I die instantly upon entering them. The only message I see is "FatCampingBastard ran over himself" whatever that is supposed to mean.

Any ideas? I noticed a nearly identical problem with the AirBuckaneers mod. Whenever I try to enter a balloon, instant death. Kinda makes that particular game a bit boring...

I've looked around, and not seen a similar problem on the boards. I'm using the ECE version of the game, and have reinstalled, and re-updated with the newest patch twice. This does not happen in the normal UT2004 play.

I'm using the latest version of UTChaos, having just downloaded it. (Finally figured out how to get it to work right, by downloading the full version, as the patch doesn't work with the ECE.)_

I'm kind of stuck. I love UTChaos, and really wish the word would get out about it. It's really awsome. I hope to find some others playing soon.

thanks for the post always glad to hear from the fans. So this seems to happen all the time? Its not right. Some vehicles you get banged up pretty hard. Are you playing with other muts or using a non-standard player model?

i am pritty sure it is a mutator,does it happen online on standart servers too?

I havn't played UTChaos online yet, as I havn't found any servers. At first I thought it might be a malicious code someone installed on a server that would screw up vehicle play thereafter. But since it happens after what is basically a fresh reinstall and update of the game, I'm now doubting this.

Also, since it does not happen during normal UT2004 play with any of those vehicles, I'm thinking it's not a mutator...

What's screwy is it does it after reinstalling. What could possibly be different about my machine to cause that strange behavior. Weird.

Hope you guys have some ideas, cause if not. Them I'm on foot.

I also noticed that is some cases, but not all, the bots in the game have the same problem, and often die instantly upon an impact. But the bots can also drive flying vehicles that I can't even get into without dying. So I'm not sure there.

Any thoughts?

Ok lets back up a sec,

if you play in normal Ut2004 before you do any updates does this happen? Meaning you do another fresh install, fire up UT2004 and play ONS. Does it happen then?

Also are you 100% your not selecting other muts?

Show your log(Chaosut/system)
Try deleting the chaosut.ini in chaosut/system

This ones got me stumped. Only thing i can think of would be the hoverboard or bike code becoming malicious and eating the rest of the vehicle code, but with the way the game is designed that shouldnt happen and we would have seen it before now.

Only real thing i can think of is what tkatk said.. since that should wipe out any hidden mutators lying about (make sure no mutators are enabled in normal UT2004 before deleteing the file, as it copies over that setting)
