Melee CCTF/BR

Please forgive me for the persistent suggesting of ideas on this topic, but...

SUGGESTION:

In melle BR the person holding the ball cannot move or moves freakishly slowly, like he/she/it is crouching. Thus, the ball can only be passed via good teamwork and coordination

Melee BR: The ball carrier will not be able to survive with or without any form of melee escort. Due to the speed at which people can move in the game, it is impossible to protect a slow-moving target with only melee weapons.

Unless you have to pass the ball...

Melee CTF flag gun: Waaaay overpowered. It would be impossible to catch the FC(s) with this sort of thing.

any kind of melee item based game is simply a stupid idea..

Normal speed carrier:Unkillable...period
Faster:Unkillable...period
Slower:Can still dodge
Cant dodge:Dead meat,stalemate

Throwing:impossible to defeat the carrier on small maps,impossible to escape on large

if the FC/BC were made as slow as he/she/it would be if he/she/it were crouching, that wouldn't be easy to dodge, nor easy picking. Its not like the FC/BC's teammates are just going to be sitting around in their base: they will also need to come to protect the FC/BC.

And when the FC is dead, the other team will have to take the flag back to their base, and a new FC will arise from the ashes. Then the other team will have to kill the FC and so on and so forth until one team gets their FC to their flag. This will be almost just like BR...

Heres a funny little idea after reading that.

Kamikaze flag shooters.

When you fire primary, the flag is launched but you go with it. when it lands, you explode. and it is quite heavy so it can't be lodged far.

When you fire secondary, it just does the same thing as primary.

In this case if you launch it in any way possible, you will lose it. and you die. :)

but say you're playing a good team. and finally one of your team grabs the their flag and makes off with it, then they shoot it - blow up and die? what's the point really? i dont really like the idea to be honest with ya :? .

(edit) oh would the flag be returned to it's stand? because if it stayed with the corpse i guess that would be good. i was talking about if it respawned back at the enemy base, which i guess would be stupid :roll:

Actually there was some popularity in IG BR...not that I would like such a thing but I do remember going to a few lans where thats the only type of UT2k3/4 that was played...

Actually, I can see it working if in BR if the ball carrier are slow down and the cool down time for the dodge is made 2x. The only way to escape is smart passing.
