Sounds Kinda cool actuall... A reference for good/bad maps... Chaos should setup some sorta polling system for maps alone, you know. A special gallery of maps, each has 4-5 sceenshots and a rating from 1-20 that can be voted upon by members and a download link, of course.
BTW: where can i mass download these maps (The ones not provided by UT04 and CUT)? In map packs, I mean. I dont wanna be downloading maps like mistyglen and Abattoir Island (just random names) individually...

Well, there's the
community bonus packs, and then there's some other place competing with them, but I dont know if they've released yet or not. Of course, the CBP is pretty big, and if I remember correctly you have dialup, so you may want to use a download manager.

lord_kungai - I would strongly suggest that you re-think your position. Quite seriously, you will miss out on many fun new playgrounds if you aren't willing to download individual custom maps.
I often times will download one a night, just to check it out, and either keep it or not. The truth is that I have played many Many more custom ONS maps than are listed there..., it's just that for awhile I stopped keeping track of which ones I liked or not.
Get them from Unreal Playground, Nali City, Atari Forums, BU..., just anywhere you find them. Try just picking one name off the list a day, and sticking it into google and giving it a shot. A constant flow of new maps can help keep your fun fresh.
SideWinder - I think I read that Spiffingrad-SE is a BF conversion. I have that one too, but think I only played it once so far, need to play it a few more times, I'm undecided as yet if I'd vote for it or not online. But I never owned BF so I couldn't tell you which other maps are conversions unless I am told.
About Icarus, well, it was made by one of my very favorite mappers, and it's a fine map I guess. But I simply don't dig the gameplay on that map. For whatever reason, it just doesn't seem to "flow" well to me (for lack of a better term, truth is I hate using that word anymore).

The only thing I like ONS maps for is Vehicle Invasion, so I probably like ONS maps for completely different reasons than most people. I love Icarus for Vehicle Invasion though... Gives a nice mix of ground and air combat with those dang warlords... Especially the central area -- good monster-mashing gameplay there.

Hmmm... Good logic, will try that (once I get back to India)

That sounds like a very good idea actually. But I think if someone would make it it should be a standalone installation so that it can be used for UT2004 and all mods.

Got any with vehicles.
But I guess to be more serious, any that are designed with Chaos in mind, and that aren't simply a boring, square and flat room.
Duel can be played many ways, and some mappers fail to consider this when designing their maps. Things like normal weapons, grappling hooks, and gravity belts must also be taken into consideration in order to have a top quality Duel map. If I can do things like grab a grav belt and dodge and jump my way outside of your playing area, or grapple to the clear blue sky and hang there..., then I would consider the map incomplete, or simply not worthy.
To me it's kinda-sorta like those maps that are released with 0 bot support, and the readme says "designed for online play".

Well..., Ok, fine. That's all good, after all you're doing it for free and just giving it away. But it's incomplete, and I wouldn't expect that kind of thing from a retail game, or a top quality mod.
Beyond that, if a mapper has in fact designed the map for All of Duel, then you get into gameplay and personal opinions. What makes a good playin' Duel map? Well, as we know, there's no point in asking questions like that. You might as well debate why chocolate is better than vanilla, or the vice versa. You will not find agreement if you ask more than a handful of folks.
Myself though, I prefer something that is not too big, and yet not just a square flat floor either. No matter if I'm using melee or nw, I want something to jump on and off of, something to duck behind, something to do flips off of, or just something to "do".
Forget the name, but there's one map that is pretty much just a regular 2 level 'figure 8' map.., well, we added some jump pads and a hole in the middle area, just to add something in the middle there, some kind of jumpin'-fallin' fun, instead of just running around the figure 8 all the time.
Anyway, that's enough of that.

Larger battles, mostly with vehicles, is where I'm at lately.

Wow... ONS-Torlan didn't make either list o.o

I'll try finding some at those sites, though o.o
And where is Vehicle Invasion? O_O That would rock so much....!
Gotta love any mode with vehicles in it ^_~
