Official ChaosUT2 Server (2k4)

Hi
I sometimes play on the official server. I noticed 2 bad things
1° I only play with bots, there are rarely human players
2° The server is laggy, it's pretty hard to play
any suggestions or comments ?

laggy?? Could be that its in the US and your over in Europe? Do you ping and play ok at other severs that are located here in the states???

I play in Europe in scotland with a shared 1mb broadband connection over 3 computers and i get no lagg at all.

yea its laggy, I dont know why cause I play on some other servers in US but there is no lag.
Mmh the ping displayed by the server borwser (for the CUT server) was 260 yesterday. Mine is normally less than 150, I use a 512 mb adsl connection. I simply dont understand why !!!
edit : I tried to create my own server but it doesnt work
I noticed it for a long time, I cant create any server (cut or ut or whatever). The server browser shows the ping of my server, it says no ping. How can I create my own ?

Can you do a trace route to that IP and lets see what that looks like? The server is hosted by some friends of mine (and a family member) in a major collage here in the US. So it could be something with their network. I live in FL an usally ping to it abound 70/90 ms.

Usally this happens when your behind a firewall or a router. I am sure not only do you not get any ping, but the server detials are blank. Try playing with your router/firewall settings as you will have to open up network ports....

Ok it may come from my router but am dont like the idea of playing with the settings as you said
Can you do a trace route to that IP and lets see what that looks like?

Open up a commnad window. Type in:
tracert ip_of_chaos_server
That will give you ping times to each hop it takes for you to get to our sever. Cut and paste the results here so we can take a look.
For the router stuff...yeap it the only way to host a game behind the router...so its up to you...
