In UT Goty AKA UT 1999, there was some cool mod where you had a team and the objective was to go killing monsters in the map and then reach the ultimate boss. That game was MonsterHunt. You would start in a place, then go further throught the map and kill easy monsters, then not so easy monsters, then medium difficulty monsters, then almost hard monsters, then hard monsters and finally the big BOSS. Sometimes there was a Queen, sometimes there was a giant beast that would throw rocks at everyone. Anyways, i loved the game and I was thinking, will you make any kind of gamemode for CUT that looks like this? its kind of Adventure/RPG Team Game without levels. Ofcourse, removing the monsters long range missiles and magic. Think about that and remember my idea of Castle Siege too.

Stay Cool

We are looking at manny Upgrades to the HH game type. We have most of the monsters in for the next release, and will continue to add to them as we move forward. Ofcourse manny had asked about an RPG system for Chaos. I can tell you that this is not in our plans. However, We are starting to work on other upgrades for the players. IE: When you kill a monster you can throw your weapon and pick up their weapon. Alot of our monsters are getting their own weapons and some of them will have Evil Magic powers. Muwahahah. We are also formulating Upgrades for the normal weapons. None of these are cut in stone yet, but they are on the way.

Please keep in mind that all of this will segway into the DOC game type. DOC is a mixture of Invasion/HH and Assault/Siege. You will be the defenders and the monsters will be attempting to destory your Chaos Marker. I call it a marker right now because we do not have a set item to use. There are also ideas running around to have the items individual to the maps. This is a possability as nothing is in stone yet.

I am sorry i do not know the UT99 mod that you are talking about, as unfortunatly i do not get time to play manny mods, and back when we were doing ChaosUT99 I was learning and producing at the same time and dont think i played even the other mods on the GOTYE disk. LOL

ok no problem. But I think you should to a siege map for chaos melee duel, or a King The King gamemode. Cause that's good for clan wars :P

King of the Hill, one of our game types can be played with Melee Weapons only, and there is a team version too. Is that what you mean?

The monsterhunt gametype is the best to be compared to Assault with monsters on the other team, you can play it with the RPG mod but you'll need special maps for those... Some Monsterhunt maps are remakes of AS maps, It's like an combination of ASsault and INVasion.. Pretty fun tho some mappers seem to like throwing some Bunny Track ("Trials") in it as well..

For me, the ultimate monster gametype would be something where the game could randomly assemble prefabbed level modules to create a random level every time, with a somewhat linear layout and then populate it with monsters. The objective would be for the players to work thier way through the level and get to the end, while new monster packs spawn at the player spawn point and attempt to attack the players from behind. The players would need to reach the objective, which is some kind of boss, which they have to kill to stop the monsters from spawning and win the game.

There would be lots of variations: melee only (which would also affect the monsters), capture the flag (instead of a boss the players have to grab a flag from the end of the map and bring it back to thier spawn), switched sides (each player controls a random monsters and have to fight off AI-controlled "adventurers" to prevent them from reaching the end), and would have an option to limit the number of lives players can have or set them to 1. Instead of a map rotation, you could pick different prefab schemes to have the game generate random levels from (for instance, one scheme might consist of old cave sections, while another would consist of power plant rooms, and you could create your own schemes to mix and match - power plant rooms and cave sections combined for instance), and download new user-made prefabs from the internet, or create your own.

With an engine specifically built around it, it could be a really fun kind of game, but would almost certainly require a custom designed engine. Imagine it with next-generation physics support though... yumm.

oh I mean Kill the King... like, two castles, a battlefield between them. Then players would plan and work as a team to defend their king and assassinate the enemy's king. with melee ofcourse

and i surely think Monsterhunt should be ressurected with melee, then you could use RPG Mutator to make it cooler or not.

it would be also cool to have a game where you need to steal eggs from the enemy's base, then return to your base and put the eggs in a machine that would speed up the hatching and make some monster appear; each player could only cary 1 egg and diferent eggs would make diferent monsters; then theres a timer and after the time ends, the team with less deaths would win, so the more monster you have, the more deaths caused by them to the enemy team.

and for finishing, anyone remembers BT (BunnyTrack)? the CTF game in UT99 GOTY where you would need to go through alot of thoughtful and skillful challenges, till you get to the enemy's flag, then take the teleport to your own flag and score? the one where the two teams were separated by a window so they couldnt just kill eachother/interfeer but they could see hows the opposite team's going? i would love to see that in ut2004 :P
