BiaMapVote - currently being tested on Chaos server

A mutator being created by [BIA]DarthMushak is being testing on some servers out there right now, and ours is one of them.

We have it running right now, and you are welcome to join and check it out. There is a bit of a download to get the mut when you connect, but it allows for mid-game voting, and even for different game types.

It also allows maps to be used for more than one game type. I'm not sure we can get Warfare maps to work in TeamDM for example (though maybe, I dunno yet) - but I am currently on our server playing DeathMatch in the map Powersurge.

It's weird though, because even though you can have vehicle DM maps, you still don't get the hoverboard. So if you're without a vehicle in a big map....

Interesting though. Worth messing around with to see what works and what doesn't.

Ok, this is an ongoing test of what can be done - we don't have to keep it this way if we don't want to. But for now, we are running BiaVote, and these game types can be voted on:

DeathMatch
Warfare
Vehicle DeathMatch
Vehicle CTF

Deathmatch is just deathmatch. No vehicle maps in that rotation. Warfare and VCTF are just as normal also.

But, what's new is the Vehicle DM game type that BiaVote allowed me to 'create'. It's really just normal DM, but only vehicle based maps are able to be voted for to go with it.

And, just as an experiment! - I have added for today the Uberboard mutator. And have set up BiaVote so that the uberboard mutator is only active during the "Vehicle DeathMatch" game type.

I guess if you don't have the Uberboard already installed, you will still have to download it when you connect, no matter what game type is running, but it will only be 'activated' during the VDM game type.

The reason I did this is because while you can have vehicles in large DM maps, and UT3 still calls it DM - you do not get the hoverboard. And the reason they added the hoverboard was supposedly to help you get around in large vehicle based maps. So, now that we are playing VDM in large maps, it seems odd to suddenly have to walk everywhere, instead of having a hoverboard. Thus, the addition of the Uberboard mutator.

Ideally, this new BiaVote map voting mutator could somehow automagically detect if it's a vehicle map or not, and just allow the normal hoverboard. Then we could have hoverboards in VDM without a seperate mutator. But for now, I just wanted to see it working.

And it seems to be working. Feel free to jump online and check it out.

And Uberboard removed already. So scratch that.

Found some kind of bug going on, and am trying to narrow it down.

Ok, that issue is basically resolved. Voting for VCTF was the culprit, but there is already a work-around in place, and he'll have it fixed in the next version. And he may add even more tweaks as well.

So we now have map voting pretty much functional, thanks to [BIA]DarthMushak, and it currently includes;

DeathMatch - with only non-vehicle maps
Warfare
VCTF
Vehicle DeathMatch - with only vehicle maps, and an Uberboard

And for now, it all seems to be working. Sometimes after you vote to switch the game type to VCTF, the map list doesn't automatically refresh for you, and you have to click on the Maps tab, but it still works.

Feel free to give it a shot. It's currently running VDM in Powersurge.

Even better, [BIA]Vote even takes care of the alternate linksetups not showing up correctly in a voting menu.

http://home.woh.rr.com/chaos/cut3/BiaVote_XtraLinx.jpg

That pic shows that you can have alternate link setups for warfare maps, and have them read nice and neatly in the vote menu.

And that was already in the current beta version of BiaVote, I just didn't understand it yet.

Oh, and Xyx has made a 2nd version of his layouts, now it's called "<a href="http://utforums.epicgames.com/showthread.php?t=598279" target="_blank">XtraLinx</a>", you can see a few in the pic (Two Paths, One Orb, No Orb, etc).

BiaVote has been updated, and some things fixed and tweaked.

For example, he's added an option to turn off/on hoverboards and/or translocators by map or game type. This means we now have the regular old hoverboard available in VDM, and we no longer have the Uberbaord mutator on our server.

So for now we are running two mutator; BiaVote, and TitanTeamBalance. Two very useful tools. Feel free to play there and tell me if you see any problems.

I honestly have no idea. It's not happened to me at all, and I've gone through every version he's posted.

I do not have it installed locally, I only put it on the server. And each time I update it, the server just sends me the new version.

Do you have it installed locally? If so, remove it. Maybe if you just take it out of your cache?

Thanks. I realize it's a pain, but this type of tool is very good to have, and I thought it would be nice for us to help him test it. Eventually it will be finished, and this hassle of updating will go away.

Just to follow up on what I was talking about before. I still cant figure out where I could clear any downloaded content. I still can't get into the server for some reason, always gives me something weird not being found. Assuming its a corrupted file or something but I can't find where the downloaded content is! Grrr

The download Cache is in MyDocuments > MyGames > UnrealTournament3 > UTGame > Cache. The Cache.ini lists the names of the files so u can find the corresponding .uxx file and delete it.
Good luck

Removed BiaVote for now, because it was giving people heartache.

No mutators running at the moment, only a couple of custom maps.

Is [BIA]Vote still being worked on? I have it running on 2 severs and was wondering if it's dead or not. I really like the way it works.. but just a few bugs I see. Not sure if it's the mut or ut3 itself... prolly the latter. Anyways, Just in case here is what Iv'e seen.

works with custom gametypes.. but sometimes hud doesn't show untill you revote within the same gametype. Or reconnect.

Scroll bar on the maps gets stuck most of the time... It either goes allthe way up or down then goes back to where it should if you click the lil arrows sometimes.

If this is dead mabey I could get the source code sent to me and see if I can get it fixed and give credit for creation to who made it originally.

Thanx for your time :)

Hi!

Yeah, of the couple/few voting things out there so far, I prefer BiaVote. Can't say for sure whether he's done or not, but we haven't had an update in at least a few weeks, as you said.

In case you didn't have it, here is the project page on Google;

http://code.google.com/p/ut3-sniper-game/

Perhaps you can contact him through that and find out. I'd love to see it continued by someone, let us know if you have luck!
