is there ever going to be Chaos for Q3? has anyone created a mod like it for Q3?

i haven't played Q2 in over 2.5 years but truly miss the Chaos mod.

again, i'm sure this has been answered a million times but i need some info.

At this time, unless the coder appears and gives us the source code to use, I don't see it happening.

The next version of Chaos will probably not happen until either Quake 4 or there has been some discussion of making the MOD for Doom 3

hey Rimmy! from what i hear Doom3 is going to support about 1000-1500 more polys per model then UT2k3. If ya are gonna pull somthin together for that let me know. Im in.

Actually, I don't know of anything, maybe some of the other members may have more info for you... and yes, we have tried everything except hiring a detective to find the person who has all the source code for Q3 Chaos... got an extra couple thousand $'s to fund a detective?

Yes, unfortunately that's where we stand with the Quake side of things. Q3 at this point is out of our hands, but Q4/Doom3 are not. On the Unreal Tournament side of things, we are working hard on the UT 2003 version...
Rimshot has people ready for Q4/Doom3 as soon as something is released, so Chaos is coming back to that side of the FPS playing field...

I never got into Q3, but I do remember folks talking about a mod that had some sort of, at least somewhat similar, "Chaos" type of play.

I think the author even came by and chatted about it. Might have been old forums though cause I didn't see thread just now with a quick scan.

There is one though, if eidolon still came to Moo forums, he could tell you. Maybe somebody here will remember.

welp R.Flagg if you or anyone could gimme leads to a similar mod for Q3 it would be much appreesh. not only from me, but my entire office.

That might be the closest q3 mod to Chaos...

yeah painkeep for q3 arena! As it stands the original chaos DM was highly influenced by painkeep... whish was a quake1 mod.

There was another Mod that has some similar things in it.... off handle Grapple etc....

I think it was called Ultimate or Ultima Mod.

But that was one of the coders I almost recruited, he told me it was just patched code from the Tutorial sites tha he had experimented with.

Don't know how it plays, think it was buggy.

I have always had chaos in my blood, and the Q3 mod I found that is just as highly addictive as q2chaos

Hay Rimshot - is it maybe "Ultra" that you're thinking of?

I'm pretty sure that was the name of the mod eidolon turned us on to while we were waiting...
I looked it up and I think it's called Ultra Freeze now (at least the author's name looked familiar)

You might want to have a look at this one way2Kool, it's grapple was quite good as I recall.
But it's not Chaos.
