Chaotic Dreams

Hi guys, I am new to these forums and this is my first post.
I am an amazing fan of UT99, because of the Chaous UT mod.
However, I got bored into playing it with bots all the time...:/.

I was searching on some websites for online servers with ChaousUT and I found only one
"House of Hermskii".
This Server is exactly what I was searching for. ChaosUT works perfectly on it as I imagined, but ...
this server is unvisited/unpopular... I never found anyone on it + the ping is incredible..
the server is definitely not placed in europe.

So I would like to know whether there is or there will be any ChaosUT on the MasterServers with an european eligible ping
Ofc there are private servers people host on specific times...
Can someone give me some suggestions ?

Also if there isn't any server atm...
You know that UT99 is quite popular.
There are +100 people online sometimes so would it be that much work for a ChaosUT worker here to register one server in europe for the fans ?

Hermskii is in the US, so yeah ping is not so good from the EU
It is one of the few UT99 servers I use (because he has the final Chaos 1.1)

Most other servers that use Chaos, do not advertise it or list as a gametype. They simply use the mutator which only shows when you click on the server.

I'll try and get my friends at 333networks to organise something, as we are mostly based in the EU, and run several servers.

I'll have to check it out, I never played Chaos on UT99, but played it on UT2004 for years. (Still have that Gravity Vortex enabled for Invasion.)

One of the guys at 333Networks said yes (provisionally).
It will probably require me to be an admin, but I guess if it has official Chaos staff presence (me) and official 333NW presence (me), we (Chaotic Dreams) could share the terrible chore of having to go online and play Chaos with the fans more often.

We will have to discuss this internally, but there is a good chance I can get something hosted in Europe anyway.

Thank you very much Dr.Flay for arranging these servers!
Unfortunately I can't join them.
They aren't in the DM section (and I also can't join via open location)
I tried that out today in the morning and now :/

Check the full UT Servers tab, they are being launched as ChaosDM, not regular DM (many of the old tabs no longer work since Gamespy shut)
Please report any odd behaviour or problems, as these are still being configured.
We will add things like a mapvote next.

I have Xbrowser installed so I use filters instead of tabs, but I see them listed about a third of the way down the full list. In Xbrowser you can make your own custom filters Xbrowser - https://www.ut99.org/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=3284

If you don't use the XBrowser, but the regular uBrowser, you can find them on the "UT Servers" tab.

You can also join them by using the console:

Press [TAB].
When the console is visible, type:

open 52.28.64.227 (followed by [ENTER])
for joining the EU server.

or

open 54.165.54.121 (followed by [ENTER])
for joining the USA server.



The servers are work in progress "Test servers"
Let me know how it performs, as they both run on on seperate VPS's.

The specs aren't too high, so I don't know how they perform and/or how many players it can hold before behaviour becomes laggy.
That's something we will find out when trying them out... For now they are configured for 8 players without spectators, but we will see if it will be able to handle that number of players... Might be adjusted in the near future...

I edited my post above after checking the Chaos tab.
Since Gamespy closed many tabs no longer work.

If this can be changed by editing one of the ini files we can offer a quick fix, but if it requires a rebuild of one of the .u files, I'm not sure what we will do.
In the meantime the options given above will do.

I have been in a few times now with a few bots and another player and we have it running nice and smooth
My ping was about 60-70 which I am very happy with.

Yes, they are under the UT Servers Tab.

Yesterday I could join both. Today I only find the USA server, not the EU server.
Via open location it says Package credits failed (or something like that)

That's because it is work in progress...
Seems like there was a map causing this.
I removed the map for now.

Please keep trying, as we need more feedback about how the server performs, with how many players you were able to play etc...

I also hit that problem with the Credits file. I checked and it seems to be Credits.utx used in DM-Cybrosis][
How we can possibly have a different version of a base UT file is beyond me
As SyntaxErrror says, it has been removed from the list anyway.
We will try to only feature CUT maps, or custom maps that suit the Chaos look and feel.

Make sure you display the tab contents in alphabetical order (click on the column header "Server").
We have no spaces or prefixes so you should be able to just skim to C, where you should see the legendary Crossbones servers.

Personally I'm going to try and work out a filter for Xbrowser that shows servers running the game mode or mutator.

Here's another tip for adding custom or even private servers.
Use the little GTLite app from GameTracker, and manually add the servers in that.
I recommend the use of GTLite anyway, as it helps to prove who you are ingame.
eg. if you see me ingame but not on GameTracker, then you are playing with a fake Dr.Flay.
I recently arrived on an Unreal server to find that someone had been in earlier using my brand name (Dr.Flay is not just my user tag).

Once we setup a mapvote system we should be able to allow choosing the other Chaos game modes, such as "King of the Hill" and my personal fave "Sword Arena".
