I have it downloaded, and will check it out soon and let you know.

Looks like Plutonic released Unearthed, but only the FilePlanet pay servers have it so far! ARRGGHH!! Crud, it's there, just waiting on me....

Perfect! Thank you.

Just as I was getting ready to walk away from machine for awhile, you alert me that it's up. Excellent. It's going to take at least 1/2hr, and now it will be d/l'ing while I'm away. Thanks.

DeepSprinta is not bad at all. Though it's so much Orbital-ish, I could just play Orbital and be happy.

Unearthed City is however, the best yet. At least in my opinion. It is not perfect though. Most notable thing I've seen so far is bots leaving base on lower route getting stuck when they get to the water. Happens enough to be a problem, especially if the bot is carrying the flag at the time.

The other issue I have with it is some of the decorative stuff kinda looks like you could go in/thru it, but you cant. Seems very odd, and takes getting used to.

The best example of this I think is near link gun. If you are leaving base on one of side routes, there are a set of metal stairs, and up the stairs is the link gun I think. But the stairs end there. And right across from you is a big old gap in the walls that you can see thru to other side. But it's actually solid, and you can't go thru it.

This seems very odd, because with the weapon there, and that gap, it looks just like another route you can take, but it's not.

I will surely notice more pros and cons of each as I play them more, but I think it's safe to say that Unearthed is the best custom ctf map to date.

So then, the map. It's a medium sized indoor/outdoor UT2K3 CTF map ideally suited for 8-12 players. The exterior is set in a picturesque valley with water cascading down the mountainside, the base interiors are a ruined temple kind of deal.

You'll need a fast PC...
I've not a fast PC, but I'm downloading now; it's from Ulukai, odds are good it will rock

Well, Ulukai's is Ok, but not really to my liking. It's a good map I guess, I just don't enjoy playing it so much.

I like Bollwerk Ruins, and Extortion][-LE100, but not the Element (Thorns) Map Pack.

I still think Mr. Plutonic's is the best custom CTF yet. But I need something else good. Who's got one to suggest?

Dunno... Maybe I can make one... ;)

Have you tried CTF-QuantumFluxFinal, available at www.unrealplayground.com
It's a remake of Chaos in Space from Quake3... ;)

Hehe, that would be good Deus. Map away!

Quantum Flux is not bad at all. For the type of map it is, I'd say it's pretty good actually. Neat wormhole thingies. Jump pads all seemed to be set up right. It all looks pretty cool too. Not bad.

I'm not usually a fan of those type, but it's done well.

Got any more? :)

Have you tried CTF-Addien? It's a small map, optimal for 2vs2... Captures can be hard, especially with human players... A map with one of the greatest atmosphere...

Yes, I have that one. You're right, that one should work good 2 on 2.

BTW- tell me if I'm wrong. I think that the Cobalt map, from the Element map pack is a rip off. If I'm not mistaken, it's basically a Q2CTF map. But I forget which one it is. Especially the bases, the layout of those is almost identical to the one I remember.

It's got a lift on each side, which goes up to flag room, and in the floor of flag room on each side is a ramp that goes down to a hall, and the hall leads to a teleporter.

Anyway, I checked the readme, and no mention. Only this;

"Copyright / Permissions
-----------------------
Authors may NOT use these levels as a base to build additional levels. "

Which would be kind of ironic if I'm correct. "Don't steal this stolen map!"

Bollwerk Ruins 2, and BioHazard-LE have been added to my personal favs list. Both are great fun to play IMO.

Bollwerk is a rather well done remake. It has some imperfections in bot pathing, but it's the 1st version of this map I've liked. I heard there is a secret in here, but I stopped reading at that point, as I wish to find it myself. Still haven't.

BioHazard is tough to figure out at first maybe, and got some funky colors, but still, I like it. It's fun to pay. And both would work fine in 4-on-4 or 5-on-5 matches.

Swartz is redoing his classic McSwartz, hopefully it will turn out as well as these. (Bollwerk is a remake, not sure about BioHazard) McSwarts is a very old map, possibly as old as Q1, and it's been done several times at least.

Saw a remake of Hydro16 that could have been pretty good. But the 'ceiling' is like 10ft high outside, and I can grapple all the way across the sky. Ah well, perhaps another version will come along. I always liked that one.

Gonna start putting links on those as well, just in case anyone is ever browsing and get's interested.

And I'm still undecided about Sharpfish Park. What do you think? (Same link as Festive Ridge.)

Added LuciusUT.

http://www.unrealplayground.com/maps.ph ... rch=lucius

A map I never thoughtt I would have liked, given it's layout. But for some reason, I do. It was always fun to play in UT, and this one will work too.

Though this version, just lke the last one, works better in Chaos then it does in vanilla.
