Cool--sounds like there may be a new official method soon, and no more need for workarounds :) Meanwhile, those unofficial path additions that aren't in the Chaos manual serve to prevent regular UT from messing up when you add the Chaos mutators. (Otherwise, by the method in the Chaos manual. the re...

You mean upl? Thanks for the hosting tip--I'll be trying to host Chaos on LAN shortly. Also, where the Chaos paths are DOES have one effect--determining where in the list the Chaos players appear. With Chaos paths at the end, characters appeared at the top. With Chaos paths at beginning, characters ...

Well the instructions didn't say where in [Core.System] to put the Chaos lines, but my recommendation comes from trial and error--put them before the other paths: http://forums.chaoticdreams.org/viewtopic.php?p=48872#48872 Those steps made everything work perfectly for me, both in Chaos and regular ...

Actually, with my method here, the Chaos characters are always at the END of the list. No scrolling needed if you wish to avoid them.
(They will still show up in botmatches at random unless you make Botuse=0 in the relevant Chaos .upl files).

Both?
I like the new FX a lot, very creative! And fits the "vengeance" theme. Reminds me (a little) of one of the VJB levels. ...but I REALLY like the old effects too! Best explosion effect ever in UT--especially the lingering smoke. Great eye candy in space levels like Longest Yard and SpaceNox...

Makes sense to me. On the one hand it's a shame if people fail to browse for Chaos games just because they didn't launch Chaos. On the other hand, a separate launcher feels like you're getting a second game--just like Red O, Air Buccaneers, etc.--and that's fun. :) (I notice you can still get Chaos ...

In summary...
Now for the benefit of future searchers, here's the whole answer in one place. (Might be a good thing for the Chaos manual--for both Mac and PC.) Here is how to have ALL bots--standard, Chaos, and custom--working BOTH in Chaos AND in regular UT, with no duplicates. Chaos bots will appear at the END ...

Solution
Thanks, TKATK--my ChaosUT2.ini was different from yours--in ways I never changed. (The order of things, and you have "Paths=../ChaosUT2/Players/*.upl " which I don't--and yet the Chaos characters still work.) But I didn't have to change all that--the only one thing I had to change was movi...

Update
Update: removing the "Xplayers" files from ChaosUT2/System worked... in a way. Regular UT now works fine again--the bots in the Roster no longer multiply. The Chaos mutators and DM/CTF maps (and Chaos bots) still work in regular UT. (In fact, I notice the Chaos weapons in the Chaos maps wo...

You'r right, you can't play Chaos gametypes (like Duel, KOTH, or CTF with Chaos rules) unless you launch Chaos itself. But there are two mutators you can use with non-Chaos gametypes, and those ARE meant to be used both in and out of Chaos. One gives you Chaos weapons, Relics, etc., and the other is...

Thanks jb--I'll try that. Would I need to drag the files back to make them work in Chaos? (Not the end of the world if so--I'll color-label them red, and dragging and dropping some files before each session isn't the end of the world.) But jeditobe1 has me wondering something... how are the characte...

I'll back up first for sure--I'm afraid that might mess with Chaos. The weird thing is... this same bot problem happened to me once BEFORE I had Chaos, and I have no idea what I did to fix it. But this time it's Chaos for sure, since adding/removing the lines in my .ini make it happen or not. By the...
