i was wondering if you could possibly put a ripper into one of the future releases of the chaos mod for ut2k3.

If they made a ripper, id love to have sec fire changed from exploding (its useful yes, but i always hated it) to a bowling roll type of thing. Imagine dozens of razor blades ping-ponging around the arena...

Maybe have it have a slowing effect if it hits (ie slices up the person's ankles)

i odnt mean to burden the programmers, but what does sound cool. i think secondary should be a more powerful attack. think of half a blade stcking out of a wall like a crossbow bolt

That's only being polite, I respect that. But the truth is, we've got some serious depth in our coding bullpen so to speak. The guys can bring what we need.

But...., perhaps the more pressing issue, is that there are only so many weapon slots in the game.

I'm not saying a buzzsaw type weapon is out of the question, but it's probably more a matter of which and how many weapons do we want to add, rather than having the talent to pull it off.

I like the idea of a GOOD buzzsaw weapon. With the new UT2K3, is it possible to show people running around looking like porcupines, filled with arrows? If so, a saw imbedded in someone's back would look really cool.

Also, as a sidenote, with the skill that the Chaotic Dreams team has, I'd LOVE to see a UT2K3 resurrection of the Assult mode, because franky, that was my favorite mode in the old UT.

And since I'm still in one thread (why start another?) if it's not already planned, how about a realistic damage mod for the game? Like, if someone gets shot in the leg, he/she limps, in the arm, he/she either switches arms or loses the ability to shoot until he/she heals?

Just a thought. :D

im not sure, but wont that require a modified engine, like the new ut engine with the ghoul engine from soldier of fortune (ghoul divided models into areas that could be blasted off :) )embedded into it?

Note this was taken a short while ago before we sized the arrow and/or used a real texture. But as long as the target had "bones" in the model, then we can attach things like arrows to it ;)

There are already 2 different teams working on an Assult gametype. So if they dont finnish it then maybe we might consider it as some of the team really loved the AS games....

I think we can already do that. As you may or may not know I have been able for head shots that cause death (meaning its a kill shot that hits the head), then with the regular crossbows I remove the head but hidding the head bone, and then spawning the propper class of head gib, sticking it to the arrow, and then let the arrow continue on in flight. See this bot lost his head :)

So in theory that same approach (hidding the bone and then spawning the proper gib class) could work. For now I will just leave it on the heads :)
