I just came up with this really cool idea! You would be able to play as a proxy yourself! I was thinking you would play as it in the player class, then when the match starts, you could play as one of the proxy throwed. You could choose to help your "team" or blow the person up who setted you "freed". You would then play as the last trowned proxy and once again do what ever you wanted, to help one team, mess around, "steal" items and other things. I know this would be very hard to do and there is already a lot of ideas floating aorund here, but I had to get that off my mind before I forgot.

Actually, that idea reminds me of thievery. In Thievery UT, when you died (players had limited lives) you could respawn as a rat and run around killing other rats or getting stepped on by players. Perhaps in LMS-style Chaos games, players that were out of lives could either take over an existing proxy (if there were any active at the time), or could spawn as a rogue proxy (maybe a red color or glowing or something). The rogue proxy player could then hunt down players and get "proxy kills" which would be a seperate score only available to them. That way, a player can't up his real score after he's dead, but can still rack up a different kind of score.

Yeah, it was great! In fact, I even reinstalled UT just to play Thievery (it's one of my favorites), but they don't have a UT2k3 mod in the works yet.

Anyway, the rats couldn't really bother the players, but it was like they had thier own little game that would go on in the background during the game. Plus, the more corpses there were, the more rats would show up, so it was realistic. Rat DM was cool too, cuz there were places in the level that only rats could go, and one level even had a little rat arena.

The best thing about it is that even when you were out of lives you could still play rat dm and it was even fun. I think something similar would be great for any game that has lives, since nobody likes to sit around and wait when you're playing a game.

That could be nice for invasion... Once you die, take over a proxy and go hunt the aliens :D

Actually...thats not a bad idea...let the players play a proxy.....hehehehehehehe

I will put that on the back burner and see when we can use it...

Hehe... we already thought about the possibility to use the Sticky feature of the Proxy to stick them on yourself, turning into a giant timebomb... maybe this will be the sucessor of the Kamikaze feature. Once you got 10 proxies or more and press the Kamikaze button, you place them all over you, start yelling, run towards an enemy and once you touch him you go up like hell (20 Proxies or more= redeemer style explosion)
Maybe in the second public beta :wink:

That's a good idea. I can just see a player running around with proxies stuck all over him... That would be the funniest thing to watch -- until you're gibs...

But anyway, if there's a scream, it should be a long, sustained scream until the explosion... People could hear the scream and maybe take cover before its too late, plus it would sound cool, sorta like the bomber guys in Serious Sam...

one of my favorite things to do in the orignal ChaosUT was to kamakazie with 30 bots on a map, its one of the most satisfying kill's to get =)

i love the Proxy Thievery idea too.. although i know that if it makes it into the final version im gona abuse the hell out of it ( like teaming up on people - imagine a swarm of player controled proxies chasing you down a hallway... :twisted: )

And proxy taunts! Players should be able to trigger all of the built-in proxy sounds. In fact, I could even make a batch of proxy voices specifically for the players to use as taunts, if this feature goes in.

Shadowstar, don't know if you saw the changelog I posted for IR11 on the web site, or if you've already spoken to Jb, but we did get your proxy sounds in the mod.
