I was just thinking.... would there be any way to have a side mutator that turned the bombing run ball into a proxy?

If yes, would there be any way to have it hop back to the ball reset point if it is dropped for long enough(maybe use bot pathing?)?

Finally, if someone shots the ball, it could detonate :)

there is a mod called morphball that lets you change the ball into any static mesh you want. when cut is out you could certainly use it to do that, although it would still be just a plain ball, except that it looks like a proxy. but considering the proxys coolness, thats close enough probably :0

That a pretty good idea there. I dont think we have any plane for the Bombing run Game type yet, but that is a pretty good one hehehe

So, instead of grabbing a ball, and throwing it into a goal, you're out to catch some cute little fighting critter, and put him into a trap-thingy?

Yupp...maybe the proxy should even start to wander the map using the bot paths ONCE you drop it and the teams have to catch it first.... sounds like ACBR to me (Advanced Chaotic Bombing Run) :D

Hehe. Ok, ok. So we downplay the Pokemon thing, but it could be fun to 'Poke' fun at it too. Yeah, this could be a worthy alteration of BR.

But we'd have to find a way to get more than one proxy (the 'ball') in the game. And maybe the ProxyLauncher, is the thing that you catch them with, rather than having it launching regular proxies everywhere in this gametype.

Maybe the regular proxies are appear some other way in this game.

Gotta run, but this one sounds kinda neat.

Hmm... R.Flagg gives me an idea:

How about a new game type based on BR (this way you can alter stuff more freely i would think). There could be multiple proxyballs on the levels, or maybe a "real" proxyball and a few fake ones. No respawns after a goal for the players.

With the "real proxyball" version, all of the proxys look the same until the real one is picked up. Guess and check until you find the right one... BOOM! Each time a fake proxy dies a new one spawns to take its place... maybe on a delay. Once a player picks up the real proxy the player gets the "ive got the ball" indicator thingys, and the proxy will get the "i am the ball" indicator while its held or for a short duration after it is shot/released.

If you do the multi-proxy approach, the team that scores the most points wins the round then do a normal BR respawn. If you do the fake approach, after each run the proxys all die and respawn.

*brain overload.... need to reboot the server....*

These proxy :proxy: ideas are good! Me, jeditobe1 and I'm sure others came up with cool ideas for these little guys. My idea, playing as a proxy and jeditobe1's idea, using it as the ball in Bombing Run and turning it into Proxy Run with new gameplay elements. Blowing yourself up with proxy is also a good idea :D . I know these ideas would delay the time it takes for the mod to come out, but it will be worth the wait even more now. Now there will be more of a reason for Chaos to have each gamemode in the list. Another odd idea, what about CTP, capture the proxy or capture the proxy king? What about even throwing in rogue proxy mines in the game mode with the monsters? A proxy king that spawns normal proxy could be the warlord replacement maybe. The ideas are on a roll here, lets keep going :D !

BTW, is there a new starting weapon to replace the Assault Rifle? I heard a lot of people (even me) don't like it.

I used to like the AR, but now the only thing I like about it is the grenade launcher and Chaos's grenade launcher looks to blow the AR's out of the water, so I'm all for replacing it. I liked the enforcer in UT to some degree, though I would have preferred it if it would create a big puff of smoke when you shoot with it (ever see those old westerns?). For some reason, I just think gunsmoke is the coolest thing for a pistol type weapon.

Anyway, I like these proxy ideas and would love to create some sound effects for this gametype, since I've already done so many for regular proxy sounds. Imagine if the proxy would complain or talk when you were carrying it around? You could find the person with the proxy by listening for the proxy who sounds like he's fussy about being carried...

even better- something along the lines of a deadly versoin of hungry hungry hippos- hungry hungry proxy hunters! use a BR map, and proxies are spawning at the ball spot at a fast pace, and you need to collect as many as possible and bring them to your own goal (sort of like Greed) but if you die or take too long to return them, the proxies blow up (the more you have the bigger the explosion) and the proxies still get pissed if you shoot them (which will make it difficult with them bouncing around :p)
