Just thought id mention it but last night when our server switched maps it took me almost a minute to load and enter the next map, bio thing the map was but others have said they had similar problems with other maps.

By the time i joined the game someone already had 5 frags !

Anyone else seeing this ?

PS maps like antalus etc seem to load at normal speed

also if u play a default map like antalus or crash 1on1 then the game seems a lot laggier than it does if i play the same map on the same server without the chaos mod

I have the same problem - longer loading times, increased chugginess, though the chugging usually dies down after a few minutes.

Biotoxin is very CPU intensive and in specific it has very long loading times. Ive had problems similar in the past with maps like Skorbut which is also CPU intensive. Some of the other maps are also more CPU intensive than some other maps you might see released.

This would be my dpt. ;)

The reason that you are experiencing longer load times is because Our Custom maps, are loading a Chaos Static package. (Mappers Correct me if im wrong on the individual maps) This package is a rather large file that contains all of the CUT2E Static meshes, as well as Alternate textures for them.

I will look into figuring out some way to get the load times down.

DM-CE_Biotoxin is my first map so it isn't perfect... And I know that it is very hardware hungry, the reason is, that the whole geometry is about 18 mb (map size), and it uses many statics from different packages with altered textures from different packages... I tried my best to optimize it but there are some limits when maps are using much stuff... The only recommendation to decrease loading time I can give to you is to upgrade RAM...
And as Jeditobe said, there are already many custom maps which are hardware hungry, too (And some standard ones ;))

Maybe I will do a redux of this map somewhere in the future which is more optimized from the ground...
