CUT2: Alternate ammo not swapping in...

Post by DarkDragon »

Okay, I have quite a massive list of mutators that I run, and the way i like to swap in new weapons is by using a mutator that Mysterial wrote called Random Weapon Swap... it's an older mutator, and it works wonders. But, when I use it to swap in your guys's weapons (along with the 40+ other weapons I have) the alternate ammo doesn't automatically swap in when the weapons do. I think this is because of the way RWS is coded... and I can't find any way around this (i've tried using your mutator in conjuction with RWS, and set it to sometimes swap in the weapons, but it doesn't ever seem to work... also tried setting it to always with RWS loaded and it still has no effect.)

I was wondering if you could try to fix this.. it would really be helpful, as I'm sure the problem also exists with other people who use mutators like Switch Arsenal and WoRM. (I haven't tried these, since they don't let me randomly swap in weapons like RWS).

If nothing else, could you send me a code for your weapons that will let them start with a fair amount of every type of ammo when you pick them up? That way I can still use the kickass napalm and stuff, even if it isn't swapped in.

If you do decide to help, thanks in advance. :)

that problem doesn't exist with switch arsonal, it swaps the ammo as well.

ask Mysterial about it, he's good at fixing mutators, but IS busy.

Okay I will. I WOULD use Switch Arsenal, except it has no option to "randomly" swap in weapons from a list like Random Weapon Swap.

Chaos Team: could you still look at the code between these two mutators, and maybe just send me a modified .u file that I could use that by default assigns every 'multi-ammo' weapon a little bit of every ammo to begin with? Just in case Mysterial is too busy with his jobs from Epic.

Edit: I contacted Mysterial. So I guess I'll get my answer in awhile. And you guys wouldn't have to make a .u file for me, it'd be too much trouble anyways. I'll just not use the custom ammo types if Mysterial isn't able to fix RWS.

To answer your question, I'll be working on it as soon as I have time. I use that mutator all the time myself and would like it to work with the ChaosUT weapons properly :)

Well I guess that's the answer. Thanks for the help guys, and I'll resume my usual silent existance in the shadows of the net to await Mysterial's next release of his mod. :)

jb: Mysterial has been trying to make RWS compatible with your mod... and has asked me to forward this to you guys...
They could help by having either the firemodes, the ammo types used, or both in some kind of variable in the superclass that all ChaosUT2 weapons are subclasses from. Then I could easily write a function that checks for it without creating a dependancy.
Anyways, that's his request to improve compatibility.. hope you can look into it.

His forums are here

24.84.137.31/mysterial/cgi-bin/forum/index.php

I have a topic there about Random Weapon Swap and CUT2. Post in there.

He can't access the functions that are used to swap in the ammo I think.. I'm not sure myself (I'm no coder) but that's what I gathered. Anyways, that's where you can contact him. And thanks for the help.
