Do client PC "have" to have the mod installed or can it be downloaded when connecting to a Chaos server?

But they won't be able to use all the neato GUI settings for binding the Chaos stuff. As I understand it, if you get the mod off the server, that stuff won't be there.
Which of course makes it much more difficult to get the hang of things. So it's much better if they just get the mod 1st. They are downloading it either way anyhow.

I'll have it for download off my Intranet server at the LAN Party. All this is for my LAN. I'm just wondering if I had to have everyone install first. I guess that would be best.
As far as problem with redirect, I seem to of get it worked out.
Thanks,

I've had similar issues in the past. Not with Chaos since I don't like to usually use mods at a LAN party unless its by request.
However, I'm still amazed by the number of people who show up and aren't patched or don't have the bonus packs.
The best solution that I've found (since the LAN Parties I usually go to aren't running DNS) is to load everything onto a CD-R/CD-RW and have that make the rounds. Just slap all the patches, mods, maps, bonus packs and other custom content you want and pass it around. If you really want to make people's day make a nice little autorun program or something, or at least a decent directory hierarchy so people can figure out where stuff is.
That'll save a lot of people from waiting around for downloads to complete.

true, true...
Maybe I'll just make CD's for everyone. They aren't that expensive. I do have some blank DVD's if it get's too big.
As far as mods at LAN's... I play too much on line with special mods that when I go to LAN's it's almost boring to play any basic content. This will change things up for people and make the LAN stick out abit.
