Some Questions from a NooBert :P

(I've tried using the search button for a lot of this, but still unclear on somethings)

1. This mod rocks! the Claw2 + Firemines with the lasers is best weapon ever!
2. Ive been playing chaosut on and off with a friend or two in the duel mode mostly on the Moovin Hoovin server over the past 6 months, but thats the only server I see! And the only way I even find that server is because I typed it directly off of your website into my favorites browser. Seems no matter if I use the normal UT2k3 exe or the "playcut2003.lnk" the Browswer filtering or Gametype filtering doesn't show anything. So I dont know if there are other servers up or not, and Im sure many new players are also turned away from this game when they see no servers up. I've even done a total pc format and reinstalled it all from scratch, same problem.
3. Are there any indepth tricks that people can share in the duel mode, like a lot of the moves I found by accident, like the crouching->forward lunge. Sometimes I notice my guy do a spin move and I wonder how I did it. Also trying to climb UP with the grappling hook, there seems to be a way, any one done it?

Im using the PR2.01 version, looking forward to the ut2k4 version

i think one reason is that right now a lot of the server admins have switched to playing UT2004 for the time being.

Btw.. spin moves are availible in PR2.01 on the daggers and katana i beleive, and in order to do them, ill give you a hint: you need to be at the peak of a jump (either single or double, doesnt matter)

There are ways to get to almost anywhere using the grapple, getting over the lip of a ledge above you is a technique that many have mastered, but that doesnt mean its easy. In order to do it, you have to use your minimal air control to keep yourself away from the anchor and in effect slingshot yourself up above the ledge.

1. Thanks! And welcome to the BB. Lasers are one of those items, like many, that have lovers and haters. Count me among the laser-lovers! They have always been one of my personal favorites.

2. Jedi might be right, UT2004 is just out, and many folks are giving it a go. (hmm.....has Furry not renamed that server yet?)

3. In the 1st version of the ChaosUT manual, Spa wrote

"Not every feature of ChaosUT is described in this manual, some of them you will have to find out for yourself."

And I liked it. When I play a game/mod I like, I think it's great not knowing every single detail going in. It can be fun to learn things in-game, either by doing it......or having it done to you.

There is the grapple-strafing, which simply means moving left or right as you are being pulled in in order to 'slingshot' past the spot you actually hooked. But then there is also the optional 'hook-up' key that you can bind in the GUI, and that simply cranks in the cable and pulls you straight up.

There's more, keep playing! (And do not expect every 'feature' to be detailed in '04 manual either. Sometimes it pays to play)

Thanks for the responses. One thing still tho, on the serverbrowsing.
I know moovin hoovin is still at ut2k3 with Chaos PR2.01 and it still doesnt show up, but Im also basing my comments on the lack of servers even 6 months ago. The server browser has never worked on chaos gametypes for me, and Im not sure why. So I understand that many people are on ut2k4 now ,but i dont want to be coming up empty on chaosut2k4 servers either if the problem is on my end. But if the moovin hoovin server isnt even showing up then Im seeing some sort of problem for sure. Is there a list of any other servers or soon to be chaos servers (when 04 comes) ? how bout a gameq php query type display?

Seems the name has been correct on the UT03 Chaos server... I wonder who did that? (oops)
