Not really...
When you are in first person your player is made invisible to you, that way the front of your face and your gun dont show up in your view. The gun that appears in your view is actually a seperate picture added on top and sync'd with the bullets that come out of the real gun.
Why does that matter? Because we would have to create animations in first person that synch up or dont (like the flips some characters do when side jumping dont effect your view). And that would take MONTHS as i hear, and still would not work that well.

I make Darth Vader look like a teenage punk with a lightsaber.
I tired a way to "spoof" it to give you a quais 1st mode. What I did is was instead of the camera view behind the player, I moved the camera to where your "eyes" would be and spaced it a few units beyond that. It worked well for a few animations, was ok for some, and you have horrific issues with others (maily you could clip and see inside your body). So far we dont have a good answer for 1st melee.

That's something I really miss in FP games. It's a small thing that doesn't affect gameplay, but when done it really enhances the immersion in the game; Project Eden and Tribes 2 were very cool for this (IIRC you could see your body in both, but I might be mistaken, a while since I played either).Kaboodles_The_Assassin wrote:Man, I really wanted to see my own feet this time...
Having a foot that matched my character when I kicked someone would be great.
Though I certainly miss the hands a lot more than I think about the foot. Kinda sucks to have lost the hands. Stuff like the aimations Spa had made for the hands changing your crossbow ammo back in UT99. Now that was nice stuff.
Obviously the guys have done a nice job with our melee system, but I'm like you...., I prefer 1st person. I too would be very happy if somehow in the future it was possible to offer both.

Wasn't Project Eden the game with dinosaurs where you played a chick and could see your own boobies when loking down?Shuri wrote:That's something I really miss in FP games. Anyways, I too like every game where I can see my feet.

And for the hands - I miss them from a designers point of view, but EPIC decided to remove them due to the species issue, so I go by the "it's their design and I have to work within their limits". As an animator I don't miss them a second, everyone who ever tried to create a realistic animation of a hand grabbing a gun within the limits of Ued bones may join me in my song of joy.

It was the game where you had a team of 4 characters, each who had different abilities - a hacker, a robot (immune to hazards), 2 others - and you could switch between them to complete puzzles, and there was a dash of shooting action as well. I never got around to buying the full game though... might one of these days, only £5.
