Do SOMETHING about the raptor

This does not need to be a fully fledged realistic plane. It can be a variation of the raptor that is much faster and much more agile. It would be cool if it could do loops or rolls like the space fighters in AS-Mothership

hmm,how about a transformer plane,medium strenght land robot,a weak plane

What if there was a modification of the raptor, or a vehicle by itself that could have the same controls as a redeemer except accelerate and decelerate like a raptor (as well as have a larger view). Its primary fire could be bullets like a minigun/goliath turret and the secondary fire could be ‘anti-tank’ missiles that do not home but do a lot of damage. These could be used to attack players, vehicles and even nodes in flybys, or dogfight with other vehicles like this. It could be just like a raptor except:
>Different skin?
>Different body?
>Redeemer-like controls
>If it decelerates too much, it can ‘stall’ and crash
>Primary fire – Chain gun
>Secondary fire – Powerful, non-homing missiles (damage of a Phoenix’s bomb?)
>Can boost its speed if you press the jump key?
>Much faster than a raptor, manta or hover-board
>Self destructs like a redeemer (this is just a crazy suggestion)
>Very easily sent into an unstoppable spin

Only problem is it’s not going to be easy to get this thing flying if it gets screwed by even small hits. That’s why I had the idea of mutant vehicles – vehicles that mutate from one form to another, even while fighting. The raptor itself can turn into this plane and back.

you can get the egal or black scorpian in onslaught all you do is press tab and type in "playersonly" then press tab again and enter "summon ut2k4assaultfull.asvehicle_spacefighter_human" for an egal and "summon ut2k4assaultfull.asvehicle_spacefighter_skaarj" for a black scorpian then enter in and steer it away from any obsticals as it starts flying. then re-enter the "playersonly" to play normally

Yes, perhaps for clients, but I don't believe it works to put it into a map, at least not straight out like that. I've had some trouble getting it to work in my maps, but I haven't tried that much. I have heard that you have to set it up like AS-Mothership, which I believe involves some scripting, and that conflicts with certain map designs.

If this raptor variant is made, I strongly recommend against it having any form of kamikaze function. This would only promote redeemer style attacks (isn't that the point of the redeemer?) while at the same time, depriving it of those who might actually use it to dogfight and eliminate tanks (the UT04 aircraft's primary function).

Redeemer style manuverability I'm all for, though, but it should be faster and not be able to turn quite as fast. Primary weapon fire should travel faster than the raptors but not be instant hit or close to it. There still should be a skill element in "leading" your target. A weapon without splash damage might be good (primary only).

I'm also interested in the dumbfire rocket. Perhaps make it like the FFARs (Folding Fin Aerial Rockets) on modern attack helicopters. Firing in pairs, they could behave much like normal UT rockets only travel faster, with more damage and a larger splash range. This of course should be balanced by a low rate of fire (unlike current FFARs of course). Maybe even have such rockets have a slight deviation from center such as the primary Goliath weapon. Another thing I'd really like to see is such rockets actually accelerate. Meaning, the rocket would not have instant speed that does not change. It would start moving slowly, but have a higher top speed. This would mean leading would still be necessary at close range, but wouldn't mean leading would be impossible at long range. I think this might be a very cool concept if implimented well.

Hmmm... nice idea, duel rockets and all. Should have lots of splash damage though. Accel rockets sound nice.
