chaos ut2k4 + Linux amd64 Does not Work! Help

Hi There,

I trying to get Chaos UT to work under linux. I have installed and Can succesfully load ChaosUT mod, and also have setup my .ini file so it appears as a mutator.

However...

It seems there is a problem with loading some of the weapons models with CUT, Melee weapons work sorta, I can load a duel map and specify melee only and get into the game... However it will sometimes crash out after a while of playing.

But any other way of loading the games (i.e any other gametype or by using the mutator). Will crash out UT2004.

I have no problems with other mods...


Any Help is appreciated. Also Please make sure that you include install instructions for linux users in the readme for the next release. Only MAC and Windows are in there. It would nice to be acknowledged... Considering that more linux users play ut2k4 than MAC. It's probably a good thing. =-)

I have also posted this problem to the ut2004 linux development mailing list, in case it is a problem with the linux binary. But like I said I have a feeling it's a weapons problem. As with Chaos UT installled I can't bring up the weapons databse in standard ut2k4 settings. (Crashes same issue).

Looks like it might be a problem with the firetextures we use occasionally... If that is the case.. there is a workaround we originally made for macs that might help. In one of your chaos ini files there should be a line that reads:

bUseMacWorkaround=false
or something very similar. It will probably be under the ChaosGames.ChaosUT section. Change it to true and see if that helps.

Also.. might try adding the mutator in directly. its autorun in chaosdm even if not added, but cant hurt to make sure its already running

Mutator... Been there tried that.. it's not going to work because of the texture issue I'll let you know if your ini setting fixes.

What is UnFractal.cpp?

This line in the logs seems to be the problem:

unfractal.cpp would be something of the game's base code i would imagine.

Either that or the graphic engine's

Can we see another crash log with the mac work around. The first one looks like its a issue with fire textures... thanks and sorry fo your issues.
