useful tips on how to survive vortex attacks...

Post by chaoskirina »

I have a couple tips on the vortex.1: if you are running from a vortex ball but you are too late do not fuss because you can still survive the attack. when you are trapped by its pull, try to "orbit" yourself around the vortex. if you are slightly on the vortex's right side then move to the right. when you are on its right fully go to the front. etc. same with the left. etc. 2: you can actually use the vortex to your advantage. this tip works well in low grav arena's. charge a ball so that it is a short distance from you, enough so that you can get to it in a forward dodge, but enough so that you are out of its gravity range. when the ball has reached that charge height throw it toward where you want to go. wait for the last 2 seconds then dodge jump toward it. if successful, you will have been pulled at high speed in that direction and the vortex will have died as soon as you reached it so then you will have been shot forward. what you will have done is used the vortex as a slingshot. and you are the ball/needle/rock/etc.

'Course, if it's close enough, I just like to kick the ball back at the guy. ;) Only work once so far...

Hey thanks for the tips chaoskirina! The only down side is that if you try one of these moves and you misjudge or not show how to pull it off, it usually has a very bad ending for you :)

Secret Tester Vortex tactic. Using secondary without charging it drops the ball at your feet. This lets you kick it , which sends it farther than a primary shot , faster than charging a secondary shot.

Activating the grav belt will make this much easier.

Maybe your keyboard has better chances for survival with it. ;)

I like the vortex drop-kick idea. Should be popular with soccer players.

I must admit I do love orbiting the vortexes though. It's challenging but fun. The way to kill someone who's orbiting a vortex though is simply to shoot as many projectile-based weapons as possible at the vortex. They get caught in the pull and may orbit into the guy. It's also a way to kill things before the vortex kills them if you're lucky. I've stolen a few vortex kills that way in the past. Works especially well with poison grenades.
