Someone disappointed me
So. Who thought it was a good idea to force people to use Chaos weapons if they use the mutator? Cause the option to not have them switch is gone and I'm not entirely thrilled. 

He wanted the "no weapons" option. What this did is prevents the ChaosMUT from replacing any of the weapons with the Chaos weapons. Now why would you want to do this? Many reasons. First there are other ways to get Chaos weapons into a Game. For example you can use a WORM which allows you to mix and match weapons (maybe you wanted every other weapon to be the ERDW, or you want to use an MP5 with the CLAW2, ect). Some people dont like our weapons but love the grapple. This option gives them a way to play with all of the other features that Chaos has (grapple, spray paint, tombstones, ect). Finally there will be some cases when you add muts with Chaos it will cause a crash. The older version of UT2004RPG was a prefect example. Here both Chaos and RPG tried to replace the weapon lockers. One mod keep replacing the other mods weapon loocker until UT2004 crashed. Well thats not good now is it. Granted turning off the weapons not the ideal way to run Chaos but in this case at least they could turn off our weapons which prevents the crash. So as you can see there are some cases where you MAY want to do this....

Yeah, one of the Chaos Team snuck in the building at night and stole the option.Not in 3.01. There's no option whatsoever, someone removed it and apparently did this on their own volition. I'd simply like to know who removed it.

This was removed because that's what The Chaos Team wanted. (We tend to try and avoid doing things like that w/o support of the majority of the Team.)
We do not feel that including our weapons in our mod is 'forcing' anything on anyone, as Chaos remains a free, and optional, download.
And despite the fact that it was plugged here, some (if not most) of us on the Chaos Team do not support 'worm' type mutators. (We even have one of the best coders in Unreal nowadays, as a side-effect of that fact)
OH, and since it was mentioned too, you should know that there was some sort of 'fix' for RPG and Chaos, so now you don't have to worry about that either. You can play Chaos and RPG w/o crashes. So, no need for that option there either.
Anyway, sorry you are dissappointed to be "forced" to play with Chaos weapons in Chaos, but I think you'll find it's quite common for a mod to include it's own weapons.

At the same time, we should be fair, and acknowledge that Nemephosis has been very pro-Chaos in other posts I've seen on the net. It's not like he's out there slamming us or anything.
But at the same time Nemephosis, try to put yourself in a mod team members shoes, and read here that somebody was 'not pleased' at being 'forced' to use your work. It just kinda comes across as insulting, and right here on our own forums no less.
We put a lot of work into those weapons, offer them up freely, and are quite proud of them. Many of us simply prefer that they are not removed from the rest of the mod.
And just FYI - it's already been debated to death amongst the team. (been there, done that) The idea is that these types of changes don't normally "just happen", it's what we intended to do.

Nemephosis, I offer you an appology for some rudeness of my team mates. As you can see the offending statements have been removed.
There was a big debate about this issue, and what eventualy ended up being the plan was that we were going to take to take out the no weapons entry in the drop down list and move that ability to an ini. We understand that people will want to turn off some, or all of our weapons for compatability with other mods. You also have to look at it from a Developers point of view. We spend a great amount of time on a weapon set, and to not pimp our own weapon set would just be foolish on our part. So as to settle the issue we made the move to the ini. Wich still provides the compatability and allows us a design that is complimentry to our Weapon set.
