Models and skins...
Models and skins...
Hello, I've dl the UT2k4 version of of Chaos recently... I love Melee duels!!!
I saw your models in there and well... the skins for sure aren't that great.
The face alone on the one model, Lady Chaos is it?, is not good and is rather lacking...
I don't want to be rude - I have no idea of the skinner's abilities but I would like to at least be able to make my own improvements...
So here is my question... can I get a copy of the .psk files of the models. So I can import them into upaint (so I can see the skin on the model) I've already improved the face on one of the Lady chaos skins (just need a couple variatiosn then start on the body textures.
So is it possible I can get a copy of the files?

I know it isn't that great of a model. But a good skin or even a great skin could really bring it out where you can ignore the obvious short comings of the model.
Well, I can import my face texture now and take a screenshot, but it will have to wait a while, I got work to do.
As for the body, that is why I ask for a psk of the model - so I can see in 3d as I'm working - unless I could get a wireframe of it so I know somewhat of how it's layed out.

Guys, if you want to give crits, better make them constructive. Saying that you just don't like something is depressing for us and propably a waste of time...TKATK wrote:Well, its LoQ's second or was it third model, sooo the model aint all that good...and with a not all that good model you cant make a all that good skin, mkay

the hair doesnt look like its attached to the head,it doesnt say in the description any of the skins uses a wig
the head looks too flat
Ok, ok, I'm sorry for being rude... But unlike most of the others here I do see a chance for the model.
For crits... well, the body skins is rather flat, there is much change in shading at all, only a few light and dark areas, but they do not flow well. The abs for instance don't look right. The face, isn't shade quite like the body, which for the highlighted spots - looked to be dodged using the highlight mode (if in PS), while the face seems to using a midtone or worse a shadow method of of dodging. This is bad because it make the face tone more white than actually a skin tone. The shadowing to - burn tool, set on highlight - makes the skin look black and again not a matching skin tone. The face it self, it lacks some finer facial details, but on the texture itself - it doesn't flow realisticly like a real human face is.
I suggest get some references of human faces and bodies and just practice painting them.
As for the hair - it's not bad - texture wise, though little hilighting make bring it out a bit more. As for it seeming that it doesn't connect at all well, adding the hairline on the face texture (on the upper forehead) would make it seem more together.
Tips for coloring and shading: wellfor dynamic and realisic skinning - you must selectively select a large array of colors then mix them together using the smudge tool. In conjunction with the dodge and burn tool (and its 3 different settings: shadows, midtone, highlight) add more light and shadow to it.
Of course thats not nessecary. You could slect one color and dodge/burn it using the midtone and highlight modes.
Or, use layer properites, such as: softlight, overlay, multiply, screen, dodge, hue, color etc. (required if grey scale skinning)
But a must use tool is the smudge tool.
If you don't want to send me a psk, could you please send me the wirframes (non-jpeg) of the mesh. It would make it a lot easier for me to skin the model.

My appologies LazarusX. I have been listen to Taktak blast that model for about 2 months now with not one constructive comment and lumped your comments in with his. Usualy Im pretty think skinned about things. Pun not intended. LOL
You are pretty dead on with alot of your comments. Im actualy interested to see what you do with the model, and am always open for pointers if you are interested. Anyway here are the files that you requested.

Well ill just show you how 2 out of the 3 comments that you have ar incorrect. I made it nice and big so you can see. Let me know if you need an explanation of what you are looking atTKATK wrote: the boobs are too pointy, currently theyre more like > than )

The Dark Side of Chaos.
Thank you. I 've been pretty much able to skin the face on my own - just need a few more adjustments I try an alpha channel on part of the hair (to give it bit more flare)
Too bad there is no upload option - I got a preview pic - not a great angle or lighting but it's close up and only ~37 kb (I don't have any web hosting)
I've even sketched out a few other face designs and masks to skin on but those will have to wait a while (I got Research paper due at midnight - that I've been putting off a little too long)
