Cant see Chaos in Mut Menu
Cant see Chaos in Mut Menu
I start Chaos with a shortcut. It also works if I go to the Community selection on the main menu. But If I want to play a regular game and include the Chaos Grappling Hook!!!, then I dont see a way to do this, since the mutator isn't in the mutator menu.
Any helpful tips?

Yes there is a no weapon opition in the mut settings page. In the ChaosUT2 folder there is a help section with HTML docs that will show you how to change your settings. Follow that and U should be all set...warder808 wrote:Just looked at the readme. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
Can I play a game w/out the weapons and just the GH via the mutator menu?

I like everything about Chaos! Awesome work. I think I forgot to mention this earlier. But what I truly love, which reminds me of Quake 2 is the Grappling hook.
If I could have this in the permanent game instead of the Translocator I'd be a really happy camper.
After adding those lines to the appropriate file, I still do not see Chaos in the Mutator menu.
Any ideas?

Actually I too have this problem. in my Mutators menu on my main PC, ive lost the ChaosGames Mutator option for single player games.. Its still there on my server PC so no biggie atm, but I just wonder where it went. What controls that list? Just the presence of the U file i assume?!

In order to get the CUT muts to show up on your normal UT2004 mut list you have to edit your paths:
Find you main UT2004.ini (in ut2004/system dir)
In the [Core.System] add these lines at the end:
Paths=../ChaosUT2/Animations/*.ukx
Paths=../ChaosUT2/Maps/*.ut2
Paths=../ChaosUT2/Sounds/*.uax
Paths=../ChaosUT2/StaticMeshes/*.usx
Paths=../ChaosUT2/System/*.u
Paths=../ChaosUT2/Textures/*.utx
Paths=../ChaosUT2/Players/*.upl
That is all you should have to do. Please try and let us know. TY

The UCL files (there is a ChaosUT2.ucl and a ChaosGames.ucl in the various system folders) are the ones that actually puts the mutator in the ingame set up lists. The server points directly at the .u file, skipping the .ucl file, so it would continue to work in the absense of the ucl file.
In other words.. sounds like one of your ucl files got lost. Im guessing its the ChaosUT2.ucl in your UT2004\System directory. If its still there, you might have changed your cacherecordspath in your UT2004.ini, which means it is looking for the ucl files somewhere else and the chaos one is missing.

I make Darth Vader look like a teenage punk with a lightsaber.
Yes that sounds like it maybe my problem, I've been careless with my ucl's (not to mention my *.int files)jeditobe1 wrote:The UCL files (there is a ChaosUT2.ucl and a ChaosGames.ucl in the various system folders) are the ones that actually puts the mutator in the ingame set up lists. What is the purpose of the Manifest.int? it doesn't seem to be important because Zip versions of some mods/muts come with their own manifest.int sometimes. Now personally I edit my current one and add the data at the bottom, but for the average user, I'd expect them to just extract all and overwrite. I dont hear many problems tho, so what does it do?
