Well, 1st of all let me say I'm glad that we are here talking about this now. This is good.

And we will of course speak about it, as Jb has mentioned. However, just to share some of my thoughts with you, just to be open about it...

Part of the original idea was that skins to be used was still created by us. It's important that the work labeled as ours, is in fact ours. But thank you for the offer, that is cool of you.

Another issue I will bring up, is ...where does it stop? For example, you would like to have the cutter, and what was it..the vortex? But then we have other folks who want just relics, or who want just the Claw2, or ....and it goes on and on. Do we make a new one of these for every request that comes down the pike? I think not.

One idea I've floated in the past, and maybe we can revisit that now..., was to distribute a Chaos Mutator, seperate from the mod. It could be viewed as sort of a Chaos-lite. This would have not as much as what you find in our mutator currently, just the basics. And then perhaps we could have options to shut each one of them off, or not.

Anyway..., that is just one thought I will ask the guys to consider. Because if we are to do something along these lines, I'd like us to do it once, not again and again as requests come in.

Those of you who see things in Chaos that you want to take out and use on your own might be better off to learn how to make yourself. That is, use Chaos as your inspiration, and build your own mod. Build the weapon or feature you like yourself, from the ground up, and when you do, you can make it work exactly the way you want it to, so it fits with your intent even better. If you're not a coder or you don't know how to do something like that, post some messages on a modding forum, talk to some people, get your own little group together, and see what you can make happen. It may be fun to play a mod made up of little parts that you enjoy, but it's even more fun to be part of a brilliant team that makes stuff like that happen, every day.

Modding is a great hobby, and you all have an opportunity to become a part of it. There is nothing better that could happen to UT2k4, than for the modding community to grow even more. Who knows? You may find a creative side to yourself you never knew you had.

A Chaos lite with the weapons and relics would be great. As a server admin I think there would be many others looing for that. The ability to turn them on or off might be work that would be wasted because you can use a SwitchArsenal or Worm 2k4 for putting in weps. The Chaos lite might be easier for you guys to construct making a 2 mut system... a weapon replacer mut and a relics mut.

Putting in the Chaos Sword to replace the assault rifle like the chaos ut99 would rock!

What are your thoughts on this?

chopping chaos up,read all the reply's to the question

replacing start wep with sword....would require new animations,breaking compatibility,or else it would look VERY stiff if it didnt require the new anims

BTW I was testing the vortex on a new VCTF map I am going to be releasing with space fighters in it, and the vortex has no affect on the human and skaarj fighters at all. you might want to get that in whilst you are preparing the next release so it affects all the games vehicles.

I know there are lots of custom vehicles coming out too, so it might be a better idea to have it affect the basic vehicle classess since they are all based off of that... (don't know how you have them coded right now).

While certainly a bug, im not that surprised, the space fighters use a very different control and movement scheme compared to the other vehicles and players.

Maybe it's a good thing that there is a certain vehicle type that doesn't get pulled into the deadly Vortex... It is however dangerous flying around it when it pulls in other vehicles because I had a scorpion smash into my cockpit and I blew up :lol:
