Well this is actually the Q2 chaos forum, but i am wondering: are you trying to view melee weapons in first person? They are supposed to be 3rd person only if so.
Also, are you using a custom model? or one of the default ones? Because of the way the melee system works, you have to use a model with the default bone structure in order for it to work correctly (including attaching things to hands).

Sorry about the post in the wrong board. I'm viewing my character in 3rd person, it would not let me view in first person even if I tried. I am using the model Soria, by WarBeast. I'm pretty confident that she uses the default bone structure of the females in ut2k4.
I will not be able to check it out till I get home. However if you try to play a Chaos DM/ Duel/KoTH or ChaosDM/TDM game, switch to melee, quite, then look at the chaosut2.log file (found in your Ut2004\chaosut2\system dir). If you can post any error messages you see that can help us know to figure out what the issue maybe.

The code is looking for the place in the modle called Bone_Weapon to attach the melee weapon too. All of the standard models have this, it looks like those models dont and there is not much we can do about it
Also if you get duplicate enteries you can try to remove the xplayers1/2.upl in the ChaosUT2\system dir.
