Bug Report Thread for CUT2:3 PR3.5
My pleasure JB
Just an FYI... I was really putting CUT to the test.
Ran DM Gael w/ 32 bots, Flak Cannon Arena, Relics, 60 kill max 3 times over. What an F'n slaughter. No crashes too.
Ran DM Morpheus3 once w/32 bots, Grav vortex arena, Relics, 40 kill max; once with same as above but w/ Strangelove arena;
and again with all the above but chaos rockets arena.
All games ran great. Tons of fun...Nothing to report

I don't know if you folks have ran across this bug or not. But its apears to be linked to the relics.

Thanks for the info...do you remember what special happened to cause this crash? We can see its a run away but so far we can not sure how to cause it to break like that. Sorry for your trouble.CommanderCloud wrote:I don't know if you folks have ran across this bug or not. But its apears to be linked to the relics.

Webster,
ok Thanks!

Yup Iop I got the same thing than you. It's not really a problem since it's only a list that you can check ..
I found another bug (It may come from the last one I found also don't know yet). I was playing normal Ut2004 with chaos Mutator and after some time the game crashed. I read the "error" message and it has something to do with emitters. I then restart the game same map and mut and same thing happend. I then tried a game without the chaos mut and I was able to play the entire map. So I figures it's something about the mut. I also tried the short cut but same problem.
I found out that when the vengeance relics get put to uses ( ex someone dies ) it made the game crash. when I read the log it had multiple warning about the textures and some other things. then I remembered my installation problem and the fact that I didn't see the chaosUt ctf or KOTH options in the gamestyle. so I copied ( not cut and past) all the files from the chaosUt folder to their respective place in the ut2004 folder. since then I hadn't have the problem again.
I realised that when I reinstalled the application all the files from chaos where kept in the folders( I had copied them since I didn't know about the shortcut at my first install
) so maybe it was searching for a texture in the wrong folder and since it wasn't able to see it, it crashed the game..
Just thought I'd let you know...

With the error I posted earlier I was only running 2 other mutators Eject and Chute. That error repeats with the other relics at times to. I do like the relics as they add a very nice touch, but get the error at random times quite often. It's normally when the bots are using them as well. I to have the charater list doubled, but that is rather minor. All may custom charaters have ran with no probs prior to 3.5 and still run with no prob with 3.5 with the relics off. You folks are doing great work and hope that you can isolate the relic errors and get them fixed
(oh, the cause was multiple bots grabing the Vengence relic and it trying to explode for all that picked it up. before it crashed with that error)

Just got to thinking. This may be a timing error. One workaround would be to have the relic die when the player carrying it dies. Then have it timed to spawn the relic elsewhere about 10secs later. Might ease up things alittle an not have quite so many relics out at the same time or as close to each other to cause overlap. Just a thought

I'm guessing they'll need more info:
And nighthawk, same deal, at least that's my guess. Sounds like your install is messed up at least. The Chaos files do in fact belong in their own folder, and you stated you have changed that. Whatever issue you had, I'm pretty sure that's not the correct fix.
You mentioned a map, and a log file. Maybe naming the map, and posting the log file might be a good place to start, if you could be persuaded to do so.
Thanks, good luck.
'cause I don't think most of us have that problem.Jb wrote:Thanks for the info...do you remember what special happened to cause this crash? We can see its a run away but so far we can not sure how to cause it to break like that. Sorry for your trouble.

Ya I know i might have a currupt install. I'll probably delete evreything and reinstall. If I ever receive the same error message again I'll post de log ( since it change every time) For the map... well it happend on all the maps I played at random time ( the game plays well until someone with the vengeance relics dies...)
The only problem I see with reinstalling is not with chaos... but I have a bug with th DVD, give me an error at random time about an error in a file. I need to start the installation 4 or 5 times to be able to get it install properly.
anyway .. I'll let you know if after the reinstall it still bugs.

yaI know but I also have chaos file everywhere in the Ut2004 install. And to make sure there is no conflic ( and no left-over files) I prefer to reinstall completly.

Screen goes orange after relic vengence explosion
I am still having this problem. I run a lan game at home playing Chaos for UT2004. When someone dies and the relic of vengence explodes and if you press respawn before the explosion dies down or dissapates, you respawn with an orange screen that won't go away.
This never happens on the server side, but happens on two different workstations that are hooked up to the lan. Both of them have screen go orange if they press the respawn button immediately after a relic of vengence explosion. If they wait until the explosion dissapates, then everything is fine. No orange screen.
After I noticed this problem, I downloaded latest video card drivers for each machine and upgrade to latest Directx versioin. Still made no difference. Anyone have any ideas?
The server is running an Intel P4 3ghz system with an ATI 9800 pro video card and has 1gig of ram. Has the latest directx, I believe its Directx 9.0c and also running 4.9 ATI catalyst drivers.
Workstation 1 is an AMD Athlong 1600+ with 512meg ram and for a video card it has a Geforce 4 TI4400. It also is running with the latest version of DirectX. I downloaded it and installed it myself to make sure. Also has latest Detonator drivers.
Workstation 2 is an AMD Athlon 3000+ I believe with 512meg of ram and running a Geforce FX5700 for a video card using latest detonator drivers and latest DirectX.

jlove,
sorry for your issue. We dont really change any of the UT visual options for that..just give it a color and go with the effect.
However we are in the middle of a possible redesign of this effect. If do change it out, there is a good chance this wont happen anymore.
nighthawk,
any update yet?
CommanderCloud,
thanks for the info.
