OK, I installed the latest UT2K4 dedicated Windows server zip file with the ECE content (3323). Then I also did a fresh install of the latest Chaos non-UMOD archive. I added the Chaos paths to ut2004.ini, and I use the following command line to kick things off:
ucc server ONS-Torlan?game=Onslaught.ONSOnslaughtGame?mutator=ChaosGames.ChaosUT,ONSlaughtBP.MutBonusVehicles -MOD=ChaosUT2 ini=ChaosUT2.ini log=Chaos.log
If I join the server, there is no Chaos love happening (the mutator doesn't seem to be kicking in). Likewise there is no Chaos mut showing up in webadmin. On the console I get a message: "Unknown Mutator in use: ChaosGames.ChaosUT".
I've tried using "ini=ut2004.ini" instead of the Chaos ini specification, I've tried adding the 2 Chaos ServerPackages lines to ut2004.ini, but whatever combination of options I try I just can't get the Chaos mut working. Could some enlightened one hit me with the clue stick?
ChaosUT mutator on 3323 dedicated server install?

well heres my observation:
The -mod= switch automatically adjusts the ini file lines to point to those in your ut2004\chaosut2\system folder. For chaos in specific, it also by default changes the log file to chaosut2.log in the same folder. If you have seperate ini files set up that have all the pathing information and other things in them already, then there is no real need to use the -mod switch (since on a dedicated server you do not have to load the menu and stuff anyways).

hmm lol jeditobe? This problem looks incredibly similar to the problem I had with my ChaosUT2.ucl file was accidentally deleted from the System directory:
This fixed it for me when i had this problem. make sure that file is in there.. if not, maybe one of us can send it to you.

In other words.. sounds like one of your ucl files got lost. Im guessing its the ChaosUT2.ucl in your UT2004\System directory.

Hmm yeah that could be it as well. I missed the part about it not showing up in the webadmin menu, which would seem to indicate a bad ucl file (it would show up in webadmin if a ucl file was present regardless of whether the u files were found i beleive, just it would spit out errors if you tried to select it).

Thanks for the input, still pulling out my hair
Hi guys, checked the .ucl file, it IS in the System directory, about 9.6K in size, doesn't "seem" corrupted. Tried a complete reinstall again just to make sure there weren't any glitches I missed the first time...everything installed OK. Still, same prob, same console message. Totally weird. Any more ideas, I'll be happy to try anything out at this point!
Thanks!
Thanks!

Hmm, well:
there are two ucl files for chaos. ChaosUT2.ucl is in the regular UT2004\System folder, and should measure 10.2 kb or so. This is the one that contains the information for the mutator, weapons etc.
The second one contains the info for the gametypes. Its 3.13 kb and is in the UT2004\ChaosUT2\System\ folder. It is called ChaosGames.ucl
However: heres another suggestion:
Remove the ChaosUT2 folder completely from your UT2004 folder, then reinstall (dont move anything around after installing). Then start the mod up without the ini= part of the server line. If all goes well it should create its own ini files with the correct changes based on the UT2004.ini and User.ini files in your normal UT2004 directory. Note that i suggest you remove the chaos stuff from your UT2004.ini in the main system folder before trying this. Theoretically it wont do any harm but it cant hurt.

Sorry for the delay in getting back. Thanks jeditobe1, your steps solved the problem. What I did: deleted the chaos sub-folder, removed all Paths and ServerPackage Chaos entries in ut2004.ini, and changed the server batch file startup line to use the ut2004.ini file, not the ini file for Chaos. THen I reinstalled the Chaos files from the zip, and noticed that the damn .ucl file from my initial install was smaller than what was overwriting it with the new install. How this happened I can't explain since I didn't mess with the .ucl at all. In any case I can only assume the .ucl was corrupted. Everything works now with no probs. Thanks for all the help guys, much appreciated!
