Yes especially if it helped a person know whether or not to run away(hint, hint)... If they are teamcolored, will they obey FF rules? Or will they just tell you your teammate died and you are too close for your own good? (Further attempt at salvaging thread with a real question so answers are appreciated)
Jingle, jingle, boom. Oops, you're dead.
That sucks cause I wanted to play....
But let the show go on!

The skulls should be getting a facelift in the next version. However for the patch we wanted to avoid having to update any of the main texture or model files, and besides didnt really have time to model and texture a new model before we released the patch.
For right now they done look as good but the change was made mainly for gameplay reasons, and they should work well for that.

60 damage each? I hope there's like 10 of them.
I think I liked the explosion more. You kill the guy holding the relic, and you hear this sinister voice yell out "DIIIIIIIEEEEEE!!!!!" and then BOOM there's this big-ass explosion devastating everyone unfortunate enough to be around it.
I hope the skulls seek out teammates too. I imagine it as when you're killed, the spirit skulls are summoned forth to get their vengeance. But how are they to know who killed you? They should just go after anyone they see and think "oh so you must have done it" and kill first and then ask questions later.
At least a toggle option would be nice. Have the old-style explosion Vengeance, or the new spirit-skull one. Maybe even an option to get one of the two at random on pickup. I'd enjoy that for sure.

The damage scales based on bot difficulty too, as I understand.
From my experience playing with it, the skulls seem to do enough damage. Most of the time, you get all 3 skulls on you and its hard to survive that. Sometimes theres enough players in the area that the skulls all go after different players, but usually they will gang up on someone. You can destroy the skulls, though, so theres a chance to survive. I'd say about 80% of the time I encountered venge skulls, they killed me. 15% of the time, I was able to destroy enough of them to survive, and the rest of the time I was actually able to escape them or was out of range.
They work well IMO. We'll have to see if they can stand the test of time however.

Re: damage scaling based on diffculty:
This only applies to offline games versus bots. And it only scales down on lower difficulties, not up on higher ones (i.e. i think its skilled and above that all have full damage).
This also applies for ANY damage done in those games, whether via vengeance, rocket launcher, or whatever else, and has been part of UT since the original in 1999 i beleive.

Lol once again, the only person who think 60 is too much.. people are asking for more. Keep in mind guys, you only have 100 health, if 2 skulls hit ya, you may as well have been exploded by the old version. 60 seems like the highest edge of reasonable damage IMO.Nemephosis wrote:60 damage each?
