How do you make a weapon???

Post by lord_kungai »

I dont know how to use the UT editor very well, but there are some weapons/features I would like to edit in CUT, for my own personal satisfaction. So please help me out here:

1) How do I modify pre-existing weapons?
2) How do I make my own weapon?
3) How do I modify pre-existing vehicles?
4) How do I make my own vehicles?
5) How do I modify pre-existing game features?
6) How do I make my own game features?

I know the answer to question 3 partially - using the vehiclestuff mutator i can modify some weapons on vehicles and change their speed, mass, etc. But i dont know how to do other things, for instance, put a minigun on a raptor.

For all your questions the important thing is: What exactly do you want to change? Code? Visuals? Sounds? Effects? Everything?

Since giving a good answer to even one of these things to one of your questions is already too much for this thread, my advice is to get yourself the UT2004SE box. There are lots of video tutorials on the second DVD that teach you the very basics of a lot of things you need to know to mod.

Oh, and unfortunately if you wanna model somthing you're pretty darn out of luck, UNLESS you have ut2003, which I believe came with an old version of maya PLE that had support for the unreal exporter plugin on the bonus disk. and if you do have it, could you send it to me? maya PLE 6.0 cant export to unrealed

I put out a lot of suggestions on the forums that weren't... well... completely accepted (And for good reasons that too). They might have been swalpa unbalanced, but as the saying goes - swalpa adjust maadi. So i just wanted to make all the weps/vehicles/features that might not be accepted (Instahit RPBs, more superweapons, etc.)

That DVD is not easy to find - that is why I put my question here.

WHOOT, thanks but i have a vsnl dial up connection. It takes me half an hour to download 5 MB. VTMs are going to be difficult. BTW, i downloaded CUT of a broadband connection in an internet centre and then burnt a CD. I still have CUT v3.0

Try worldwide shipment from some random ebay guy or this amazon page.

Just wanted to chime in. We love ideas. Even though we can not use them or they dont fit, it still does not mean they are not worth sharing. Also we have used the concpet from ideas to create something else. Keep in mind that if I asked 10 different people what is chaos and what they want to see, I would get 10 different asnwers. Its really hard to keep all of these good ideas together. And your right some just dont fit with in the idea of what we want to do with Chaos...

I am almost thinking we need a big sticky here to keep all the fan ideas.....

3dmax 7 is a great option too.

You can get it on their official website, (trial of course), but there's also a tool called gmax. Which is like 3dmax but without rendering capabilities.

Which largely makes it useless for ingame, but you can always send a pretty finished work to someone else to render... I think...

.3ds and .gmax files are not compatible AFAIK.

Yeah, sure did :D . Thanks guys.

jb, I know what you mean. I also wanted to try and contribute to the CUT mod

Neolith, dhanyavaad yaar. Par mujhe patha he ki mein DVD order nahi kar sakta hu. $39.99 bahut adhik paisa hai. $39.99 is Rs.1800. Unreal tournament 2004 itself was Rs.1300. Thanks anyway.

General_Sun, thanks to you too, but strangely enough, Windows XP home edition doesn't support 3DsMax. What do I do?
