We need some new Beta Testers (BTs)!

Post by halprin »

OK all! Chaotic Dreams need some new Beta Testers!

You need to available mainly during the nights. Being on IRC a lot is perty much a must because that is an big way of how we communicate if we need to get in touch quickly, so you are going to need an IRC client.

As a BT, you get access to Internal Releases (IRs) and the Dev forums.

So if I have not scared you off yet, please send me a Private Message (PM) in this forum if you are interested. Please tell me what opperating system that you are using too. If you PM me, you are not garenteed a spot though, so just FYI.

All you have to do is play around with the IR's and look for bugs, imbalances, errors, and promptly report them to the team.

It's really not hard, it only consumes a slice of time.

An other thing being a betatester offers is that you get a vieuw on how a mod get's created and how much work is being put into it wich is probably different from what most people think.

And hey, if Pepito can do it, everyone can do it, Hell! Even I have done it!

Eh. Dont judge me so laxly :P
It takes a particular caliber of determination to Beta test for as long as I did , and it can get tedious , no doubt about that , But The Crew is Fun and the self gratification is Quite good.

Internal Releases. You get to play with cool stuff before everyone else gets to! (Except for the devs, who make them)

Im not tryn to discourage you, but its not all roses. You have to actualy test the features. ITs not just playn the game. its running ovet to the corner and blowing yourself up with the rocket launcher over and over again to just see what happens. Its not fun, and it done properly it should take more then just a "slice of time" A good betatester will spend entire nights just testing one feature.

Ofcourse its not just testing the new features either. It is also going back and testing every chaos feature over and over again to see if any of the new changes have effected the older features.

This is not a fun job. it is boaring and tedious and if not done correctly then the entire mod suffers. We currently have a alot of testers that just sit in our IRC chat room and chitchat with eachother and team members instead of actualy testing the mod. This is not what we are looking for. We need people who are going to be dedicated and show up for the testing sessions.

an ir is an internal release. it goes out to the team and the testers so we can all see the progress that has been made to that point, and the testers can start testing.

ARGH! NO! We almost had him! :x

:P

You'll probably end up doing the same thing over and over again, both online and off, but don't let that discourage you.

Actually Loq; I found betatesting not to bad. When I was still a betatester I always run up with Pep to test for some hours, and that went pretty well (it helps when you are testing with someone else).
It is how you interpretend the word "slice".
I spend back then like one hour each day and around four hours at Saturdays.

Ok, maybe we put this a bit to positive so here you go:
A firm slice of time is needed in order to be abel to betatest.

But a firm grasp of proper spelling is not :)
