Also:

Any chance you have any chaos files in your normal UT2004 folders (only ones that should have any are the System folder, which should have a few .int, .ucl, and .det files. If there are any files in the normal UT2004 folders, especially if they are old files, they will cause the game to function improperly (and note that uninstalling UT2004 and/or chaos will not remove them, either).

My "CompatMode" is *indeed* set to false; I *did* try dumping some of the ChaosUT system files into the main game system file folder...AFTER the fact (and when I uninstall a game, if there's no clean install of Windows coming, I always delete the program folder after uninstall, and then I go hunting with RegCleaner after a restart. In other words - all the old files/keys ARE gone.); and here's my logfile:

Angel Item Physics...

...from one of the Community Bonus Packs (I think the first one). It allows all of the weapon/health spawn points to be moved when hit with enough force (like a rocket launcher, say?).

Makes for a lot more challenge when shits being blown all over the map and the spawn points are not static! :twisted:

it could be an issue of the Mutators fighting. Can you try it first with out any muts and see if it works? Then add the back one at a time till it breaks. I am pretty sure its the angle items...

*What* is "iirc"? You mentioned it in your last post when you asked me to show the logfile, but I thought it was a typo or something.

jb - I seriously *doubt* it's the Angel Items Physics mutator, as I'm pretty sure I remember playing with that mod from the first time I used Chaos in UT waaay back in the day. But, in the interest of science, I'll give that a whirl and report back momentarily.

I think i had that angle thing on before and it caused problems....i had so many mutators on i forgot which it messed with :/...

Also the angle thing isnt good if u have pits or other stuff on.....not good finding yourself running around with pistols with no weapons in sight or every weapon in a pit....

I turned off the Angel Item Physics and guess what I got back? Yup. My Chaos weapons. I'll be a sonofabitch - you were 100%, absolutely, positively correct, sir!

I can only assume that the latest build of Angel Items and/or Chaos is just not compatible with the other one, now. WTF.

Too bad I don't know how to mod, or I'd start diggin' around in the code for that particular mutator and see what I might find...

Glad you sorted your problem. One more target never hurt, right? :P

Just a leetle piece of advice tho', before you start messin around with anything of the angels' (either of them); ASK FIRST: One; if you ask nicely enough, there is a distinct chance that she will alter the code to suit herself, saving you the trouble and two; if you don't and she finds that you released an altered version of her code without permission, she will hunt you down and kill you, or at least your UT-related internet presence... (eat)



P.S. Could you edit your logfile post to insert a break in that long line that starts DM-something-or-other please? It's breaking the table in grand style. Thx.

Secondly...*if* I were to "mess around" with anything in my computer, it'd be just that - mine. I would not have the TEMERITY to attempt to despoil or defile the Angels' work by offering up any of my sloppy perambulations through their fine coding as mine own...ever.

It never hurts to ask. I dont know her personaly but, she has always seemed pretty cool to me. I have made entire weapons at the request of one user :)

We also can tweak our mod to play nicer with her mut. We had a simular compatibility issue with the RPG2004 mod. Except the effect of the two was it crashed UT2004. So we worked with that mod author and the two place nice together!

Angel_Mapper is a she, one of the most talented and original mapper/coders out there (where A_M goes, everyone else follows). Angelhe@rt is as far as I know a he and possibly the greatest perfectionist amidst a sea of perfectionists, responsible for about half of everyone's top five UT maps (ordering and placement may vary, but they're there). Collectively they have become known as the Angels, for obvious reasons.

Unfortunately some people (deliberately) forget that what other community members do remains theirs, regardles of whether "it was only a re-texture" or not...
And some real unscrupulous types and well meaning newbs have been known to take "tests" and beta code and publish it as someone else's, getting several people in trouble at once. Be careful out there kids..
