Need more peeps playing chaos

Post by Thanatos »

not enough peeps are playing the chaos online. whats the fun in owning bots for hours on end. we need more people to learn about chaotic dreams and what you do. I sugest you post more about your stuff on the unreal admin. people will die for a mod like this. Get jiggy with the chaos.

yes and we are trying to get more peeps out playing the mods as well. We are hosting games every weekend on our server to try to get players. There are other people here looking for games. Hopefully you folks can find times that work for each other and join them! But yet we here you!

IDEA!!!

To popularise online CUT, howabout giving a broadband connection free with each download! And maybe you could throw in a supercomputer as well!

Just kidding...

I reckon that nobody will be playing online now much cause it is nearing the end of the academic/business year. I cant come on much myself because of my exams...

The reason that no one plays online is because it's hard to find people online. This will hopefully be addressed in possibly the next release, if not that then a release not far from now, by having a 'View All Servers Running Chaos' tab in the server browser. It'll make it a lot easier to find peeps that way, trust me. I say we get that in and working within the next few release and then overhype a mondo release  .

well i think the prob is not enough avertising. for instance i found out about the cahos mod when i was doing a french report in school. dont ask... now there is enough peeps online tere all just in the normal ut. we need to find a way to herd these normal ut players into the chaos ut. like i said befor the unreal admin site has to be the bigest unreal site ever. if you avertise corectly there it will be a gold mine. Nah, the unreal admin site isn't the biggest site ever, but I agree that some more Public Relations stuff needs to be done.

Well, I think that we can't really top ourselves with the Public Relations, most everyone who's into the mod scene has heard of CUT, I think it's more of a fact that there isn't nearly as much to relate to the public as there were during the MSU  .

The team deserves the relaxed pace after what they've done for the MSU.

I dont think doing more PR work would be a bad thing however...maybe get some people to give us a second look or to get them back playing.. Flaks server used to have many a chaos games back in the day. But they moved away for some time now...

Yeah, more PR is always great, but I don't think that's the main cause of the no players issue, I think that most people are too damn lazy to click on a drop down menu and search for servers and players  .

Well I'm sure one of the team members can take up PR. Locate the right people, get the news in the right place. :D It's actually pretty fun once you get into it. Meet lots of new people. Doing that sort of thing for other games... It's cool.

But unfortunately, I have too much school to worry about. :?

But here are some basic suggestions for PR.

1. Be aggressive about it. Shove your mod into other people's faces. They might get annoyed, but if your mod's good. Once they see it, they get hooked. *suggestion: Shove the duel part instead of the ctf part...

2. Announce everything and everything. The recent video by Identikal, announce it on PU and BU.

3. Locate the right people, the people with connections. Clan leaders (the big ones), mappers, website admins, get them to announce for you.

4. Fix the UI...

5. Make the opening/intro more thematic, add an opening movie.

6. Release more images, more often.

Mostly, get yourself known in the places that matter, and make sure people know about it.

Be flashy... Very flashy..

Use a lot of "!". It sounds 13yearoldish, but the effects of these are well known. Gets people excited whether they want to be or not.. :D
(Over doing it however, makes you look like a fool).

I would also like to warn that everytime the total market goes down, the industry consolidates...

ActionUT was one casualty, it's a shame that there aren't any "mergers" in this one...

Doom3, Farcry, COD, HL2, etc... pose quite a threat to UT.
