Keyboard problem

Post by lord_kungai »

my default keys are:

up - forward
down - backward
left - left strafe
right - right strafe
ctrl - jump

I can do a right-forward jump, a right-jump, a forward-jump, a left-jump, but i cannot do a left-forward-jump. This is true in UT, CUT, and even CSCZ. What is the problem?

BTW, if I assign the spacebar to jump, then there is no problem, but i dont htink i can stretch my little finger that far left :D

bizzzarrrrre keys.

i use:

e - forward
r - backwards
q -strafe left
w -strafe right
space jump or duck (depends on ut or cs)
shift duck or jump

they work a lot better for manouverability. as for the fact you cant jump left forward, dunno. certain keys pressed on a keyboard dont work together, like if u mash a lot of keys at once ull get a warning beep from bios. maybe it just doesnt like those keys pressed together. ctrl may also be used a a windows hotkey?

theres a huge disadvantage to playing like that, in that you cant retreat and rush forwards that easy....a common tactic in most fps games. i woould give u a game to see if your keys work, but u're like hrs ahead behind me so its awkward. i h8 playing at 3am.

must be a pain trying to use the "use " button? or any of the f1-f0 buttons...

8) Here's one more setup for you to ponder. (left hand on keyboard))

J=.........Forward..........Index
Space=.Backward........Thumb
H=........Strafe Right.....Middle
G=........Strafe Left.......Ring

C=.....Jump...............Pinky
D=.....Crouch..............."
X=.....Grapple..............."
S=.....Grapple Up.........."
K=.....Kick..................Index

U=.....Use
I=......Piped Weapon Switching.....Link/Mini
Y=......Piped Weapon Switching.....Rocket/Flak/Bio
T=......Piped Weapon Switching.....Shock/Lightning/Sniper
Middle Mouse Button= (press and hold) get Shieldgun/Alt Fire/ on release get last weapon used

M=.....AWO
N=......Change Stance/Ammo

Remaining keys are either taunts or commands

Very comfortable and flexible for mods or other games with other binding needs. I just suck because of my lousy aim and terrible luck :roll:

I have the wierdest settings of all:
Right Mouse button: Forwards
Left Mouse Button: Primary Fire
Middle Mouse Button: Alt fire
Mouse wheel: Change weapons

Everything else is the default.

Oh, and I use an Inverted Y axis.

i personally use esdf instead of wasd, it gives you more room for special buttons like switch ammo type. my middle mouse button is configured to switch to the shield gun and use the shield, and switch back to my last weapon when I let go. i've never used it though... :P
I can assure you that I am perfectly sane.

And so is Steyr.

So stop yelling at me or I'll eat your face.

having tried all of the sett8ing above, i still favour mine (duh!)

works best for games like cs. ive only ever played fps since the dawn of time so my keys are kept the same for every game i play (bar things like flahslight etc).

id love to give u guys a game to see how all your settings work, but the whole timezone thing is annoying...(yay its 3am better get up for my ut games...:/)
