Missing melee weaps.

I can switch to the things alright, but the models seem to be missing. In other words, if I switch to melee, my weapon is invisible. Any idea what I did wrong?

Hmm what gametype are you playing, which model are you using? and can you post your chaosut2.log file (found in yout ut2004\chaosut2\system folder)? Thanks and sorry for the trouble.

Are you playing Duel/HH/Melee deathmatch with the mutator UT2004RPG??

That causes Melee weps to diappear

Press F4 to see them or turn off the mut...

Yes, as you can see why in your log:

We are trying to attach the weapon to the standard weapon bone called "Bone_Weapon". However this model did not use the same name for the spot where weapons get attached. In our next version, we have tweak our code slightly to allow for a few of the other common names the bone names used in models, but we can not control which name the model maker uses...nor can we ensure we get them all and ensure that every spot works correctly (some models have to rotate this spot to work correctly in their model. But that could look bad when then swing a melee weapon), Now had they used the same names that epic did..then it would have worked... :)

So sorry but there is really nothing we can do to help in this case, try another model and hopefully that will work out better for you....

yea happened to me too. some models seem to be wielding empty air BUT (here's the strange part) if they use dual daggers they do show up. wierd...

Yes, that is really pretty easy to do, and can be done with Unreal Ed i do believe. I would get the Model Author's permission before you go and edit his work.

Allthough, If he repositioned the bone then, as our animations usualy dont move that bone ( they move the ones that support the bone usualy), You will get the effect of the weapon being off. Meaning that i would not be were it normaly would.

Why not contact the models Author and explain your problem to him/her and as if they could provide you with a working version, and or release a working version.

I'll mess with it myself first. I don't SEE anything that would indicate the weapons would be maligned -- again, this is why I was so surprised by it missing -- and it just uses a basic gen moktai (sp?) skeleton. I'm wondering if (s)he used either a strange modeller or was just being esoteric for some reason.

Hm. Okay, it has a "Bone Weapon." No underscore, though. Is this a UT2003 naming convention? That might explain it...

On the lighter side the next version of chaos has "Bone weapon" as one of the names it will try if "Bone_Weapon" does not exist...so maybe it will work out ok for you...

Okay, this is odd. I go into the animation editor and load up sockets. Find Bone Weapon. Problem? I can rename it. I can save the animation. But when I exit UnrealED and reload themodel, it's no longer Bone_weapon, but instead Bone Weapon agani. Any ideas?

You have to aply the socket changes. Should be at the top of the tree.

I have seen this as well if package is in the editactors part of your ini, then it wont matter as no changes will be saved. So you have to remove that line from your ini, then fire up unrealed, ect. I ran into this all the time any time I need to tweak a model, static, texture or sound file of chaos :(

Ah, thanks. I'm sort of used to DIY mod fixes from morrowind, where downloading a new plugin is synonymous with spending 20 hours fixing spelling errors, customizing it, and making it comaptible with your OTHER mods. Fun times :)

I was doing that eventually. I think it's just the INI thing now.

BTW, which ini? None of them have a packages line that refers to the model in question.

Okay, changes are definitely taking in UnrealEd and saving properly, but ChaosUT still isn't finding the bones (righthand and bone_weapon). I wonder if this is at all similar to how I used UT4E on the old UT, and, like, I could never get it to go away...
