1) "I am lock-yoo-tuss, I am borg, resistance is futile!!!"
2) "RUN, IT'S TIM!!! TE'S COME TO GET US!!!"
3) "Oh, don't worry, It's only me, jb..."
etc...

It's healthy

Yes, I realize we're joking at this point, but to be perfectly honest, and just for gaming conversation,
I dislike having any of these flashing HUD messages. The only reason I support them being there is because they are in vanilla. And of course if they are to be there, then they should be more correct and match our game type(s). (which, as you can see, is being done)
But the truth is that if the HUD is designed correctly, and the player is paying attention, then you shouldn't need a big ugly flashing message telling you what is going on, and what you should do.
As far as I'm concerned these are nothing more than hand-holding, a way to help the inexperienced or the ADD afflicted - at a cost of annoying the more experienced player who would rather see more of the game itself.
Even the radar dots that Epic added to hold your hand and show you the way home in a CTF map I think are going overboard, but at least they aren't too much in the way. We of course altered them to point to flags instead of bases in CCTF. And as I've posted before, I think our HUD could be even better, perhaps incorporating Epic's hand-holding radar, and a flag-radar of ours all into one easy-to-read HUD, with no flashing text needed.
I will also make a request that we include a "minimized HUD" option, so that those of us who don't need or want such things can remove them. This ideally could include things such as those triangles over players heads and stuff like that.
Minimized HUD's are not a new idea, many games and mods have given players the option. Even the brand new AOE3 for example, included a minimized HUD option after hearing feedback for it from the demo.
It's a nice feature to include which can make the game experience more enjoyable for some, which doesn't affect other players, and doesn't detract in any way from the game or mod in question.
Edit: and no, this is not the same as 'scaling'. Minimized in the sense that some items which are not required to play the game, are removed. Not just scaled down.

Nice pointers, though i especially like the HUD IMH cause of the unreal elements it brings in...
