Melee Weapon

Post by johnnyhoo »

 I was wondering if there is a way that I can switch camera mode to first person while in melee? Is it possible for some 1 to make a melee combo? I mean like onimusha wind slash, bash, or something which could be only activated when adrenaline is full in upcoming version of CUT. :D I think it would be great if the melee weapons could use the shields gun concept where player can charge their attack by holding the primary attack and they are able to block in coming attack as long as they are not running out of ammo, ammo regenerate when not blocking or attacking.

There is no way to switch to first person. We tried a few things and nothing seemed to work well. Someday hopefully we will have a good solution for that.

The other stuff is possible but just not in our design plan. Meaning another team could take this and expand on it. But we will probably not do combos and things like you discribed. Thanks for the input though!

There is actually a way to switch to first person. Open your ChaosUT2.ini file in the UT2004/ChaosUT2/System folder. Search for search for bfirstpersonmelee=false and set it to true. Set it to false again to switch back.

Alternatively, you could type

Code: Select all

set chaosgames.chaosut bfirstpersonmelee true
in the console. Change the true to false to switch back. You can't do this in an online server, however.

It is rather disorienting and not exactly easy to use, but it's a rather interesting novelty. Might make you nauseous though.

Yea we are trying to find a way around this. One idea I had was to set the players skin invisble and try to smooth out the camera. That should make it work better...
