how about a gun that fires minivortex rounds at a high rate of fire , when a person is hit with this projectile , it sticks to them , doing some damage , but more importantly , drawing players and projectiles to them.the more a person is hit with these rounds ,the greater the pull . if a person is killed by the damage from the bullets , they implode , leaving behind a mini-vortex that lasts only a few seconds. secondary fire could shoot a single , lowdamage ,high kickback , shot.

That is another nice idea and finally, a non-super weapon gravity/black hole weaponPepito wrote:how about a gun that fires minivortex rounds at a high rate of fire , when a person is hit with this projectile , it sticks to them , doing some damage , but more importantly , drawing players and projectiles to them.the more a person is hit with these rounds ,the greater the pull . if a person is killed by the damage from the bullets , they implode , leaving behind a mini-vortex that lasts only a few seconds. secondary fire could shoot a single , lowdamage ,high kickback , shot.

Well, what we could do is make the utility gun into a REALLY multi-purpose weapon by giving it all kinds of cool abilities, each available through a different kind of ammo.
Leave in the flamethrower and freeze-ray, since I really want to see a well-made flamethrower (I haven't seen any yet in UT2k3), and I like the idea of a different kind of thing to do to death ragdolls, with the freeze-ray.
Here's some ideas for the other things it could do:
Phaser: Uses Energy Cells. The Phaser's primary fire works like the linkgun's beam, but has a short duration (only fires for 1 second at a time), and does the same damage, but it is totally reflected by shields, and will do no damage to someone with a shield. The reflected beam may hit something or someone else, so you could strategically bounce the beam off a teammate's shield around a corner if you coordinated. The alt fire will damage shields, but nothing else. The alt fire does double damage to shields, and cannot bounce. The alt fire will also drain someone's shieldgun charge if they try to deflect it with the shieldgun.
Acid Gun: Uses acid packs. Primary fire fires a bio-rifle like glob of acid which will burn through the hit player quickly. The glob doesn't explode when it hits the player, it sticks on them (attach a bio-goo glob to one of the model's bones). It will last for 5 seconds and burn at a rate of 1 damage per .25 seconds. Secondary fire shoots out a cone of acid. This spray is short-ranged, and chews through ammo quickly, but anyone caught within the spray will take 5 points of damage per .25 seconds. This is a very fast way to kill someone, doing a total of 20 damage per second! It causes no lasting damage and the range makes it useful only in a few limited situations. Would be a good way to keep sword or axe whores away from you...
BioGun: Uses Med Packs (small white bundles with red crosses on them) Designed primarily for team games, this weapon fires a link-gun like white beam which will bounce once off any wall it hits. It will heal any allied player it hits, or it will heal you if you bounce it onto yourself. The alt-fire beam is a dark beam, totally black in appearance. It also creates a bright purple lightsource. It does not bounce, but any enemies it hits will lose life at a rate of 2 per half second, and transfer half that health to you (so you'd gain 1 point of health per half second when hitting someone else with it). If the enemy has a shield, the beam will only do 1 point of damage per second, to the shield. If the alt-fire beam hits an ally, it will give them shields at a rate of 1 point per second.
Graviton Beam: Uses Graviton Cluster Packs. This is an invisible tractor beam (actually very faint targetting beam) which makes a loud whirring noise and produces a lightsource (drawing attention to you). The beam is no longer invisible when it hits a valid enemy target, and will then form a link-beam to that target. Once this occurs, you have a tractor lock on the target, and as you turn your view, the tractor beam and the person held in it will gradually drift toward your view direction. The beam in this mode does no damage, however, if you tap alt-fire while holding someone in the beam, it sends a graviton pulse along the beam and into the victim. This pulse burns alot of ammo, but does alot of damage, too, shoving an intense pulse of force into the victim's body. So, you can either try to throw someone off a ledge, or slam them into solid geometry (the velocity of movement on impact determines the damage done), or you can just zap them repeatedly with the alt-fire to kill them. The alt-fire only works when you have an established tractor link on someone. However, if you hit the alt-fire while in water without an active link, it causes a discharge which kills you and anyone else in the same watervolume, instantly, turning you both into skeletons (similar to the lightning gun discharge in Quake). Taking damage will break the link, so if the person manages to hit you while you're holding them, you'll have to grab them again.
Whew! Well that's all I can think of for now...

The Graviton gun sounds immense, like a kind of energy harpoon! Perhaps you could also fire it at solid surfaces to create a kind of 'web' that can snare unwary opponents before frying them with secondary. Or you could fire it at a willing teammate and have them run behind a bunch of enemies, before activating the pulse and gibbing everyone along the line! Nice! Without a link, alt could act as a short range tazer to punch people out of the way.
'This is the end, beautiful friend...'

Actually the thing I would enjoy most about it would be the ability to smash people into things repeatedly. Would be a hell of a way to work out built-up agression... Just keep beating that poor sucker senseless against a wall...
