Random Ideas

Hi, I'm new here, but a very long time fan of UT (played roughly every version available) and the Chaos genre mods are definetly some of the best I've seen.
I was thinking about some of the things people have been commenting on and I have a few ideas of my own I'd like to share, the key one being on the effects of the Vampire Relic, it seems everyone has great ideas, but they are all different, mine is no exception.
I recall from UT2003 that in the BR missions the players had glowing shoulder lights, not a particularly popular effect as I recall, but I was wondering if it could be modified to say, show up around the eye area of the models? I realize this would be difficult perhaps because of all the different model builds, still, if it can work, giving players red glowing eyes would be an effective way to convey their vamprical status, as well as look menacing and pretty cool.

PS. was this long winded or am I just out of breath?

That's a good idea. But you guessed right, positioning the glows is the tricky part. To do this properly, all models would need boned eyes with the bones having the same name, and I'm afraid that's not an option as the standard models don't have them.

Furthermore not all of the relics are immediately visible on players. You only see them once the relic kicks in. In case of vamp this is when the carrier damages another player.

We are working to make it so that there is always some visual indication that someone has a relic, even when its not currently doing anything for them. Though the indications may be subtle. More info later.
