Idea for melee/ranged weapon

I mentioned this in another thread but I don't think anyone from the CUT team got a chance to look at it..... (or maybe didn't like the idea at all :oops: :cry: lol )


I had a crazy idea for an Energy bow/ melee weapon/ throw able melee weapon, well you know how with bows the part of the bow you hold is sort of shaped like a crescent moon? The idea was to have blades extending out of the top and bottom part of the bow (the parts that make the crescent shape). That would allow you to use the bow as a melee weapon.

The string would be made up of a thin line of energy; you would press a button to bring out the string (if it was a real weapon it would have the button on the handle lol). The arrows would be made up of energy also. There would be 3 functions for the weapon....

As an Energy bow: you would press fire and shoot as normal (the projectiles would pierce but not do much damage)

As a melee weapon: You would press the adv. function button and be able to split the bow in two and have both parts of the bow (which would be 2 half crescent shapes) act as 2 curved short swords or daggers maybe. That you would be able to attack fast with since they are light but they wouldn’t do much damage.

As a throw able melee weapon: Maybe press the advanced function button again and you would turn the bow over so that the part where the string would be, is facing away from your character horizontally (looking as if he was going to shoot himself lol), You would then be able to throw the weapon and it'll act as a boomerang. That would do the most damage and have some recovery time since you would be waiting for the bow to return… or something

Anyway I would call it the Crescent Energy bow

That's a pretty cool idea for a weapon. Pretty creative thinking.

I personally would not vote for it to be in CUT2 however, mainly because the model for our bow is already done, in the game, and looks pretty cool. (Spa may be doing some more work on it's skin for PR2 though, and tweaks to it's functions continue even now)

In general, I myself am not opposed to a weapon which is used for melee as well as for shootin' stuff. We had that on the original Claw in CUT for example. But I don't think it would work out well on any weapon, unless it was in the design plans from day one. And we've not taken that approach on any of these, at least not yet.

For example, this time around, afaik, there was no discussion on making the Claw2 have melee ability. And IMO, the Claw2 does not have the kind of design that would allow for it. The Claw #1 had those meaty hooks, and they looked longer and stronger, even sounded stronger, than the Claw2 model. The Claw2 does not look suited for melee fighting, and would not work trying to add it at this late date, IMO.

The idea of a bow doing something similar isn't bad, but I think it's the kind of thing that would have to be in the plans before the model was made. So anyway, my guess is that we will not be adding melee options to this bow, or redoing another bow for this version of Chaos.

But as always, that's just my opinion, not speaking for the whole team.

sorry I did not see the first post you made. Its not a bad idea. It just atm we are kind of filled up on ideas given our workload. We made a list (design doc) of what we think we can do for the next version. Given the talanet we have and the ammount of time it takes to get weapons and other ideas in, we think we are set for what we want to do in the next version. And its not that we dont want more ideas or need them, its just that we if we wanted to implement them are busy with the current work. There are some great ideas that people like you have come up with. And the moment we are done with our current workload, then we can look at those ideas. And plan how to implement the good one....

ok well thanks for reading the suggestion and taking it into consideration and all that, you guys (unlike many other moding teams) really listen to the community so thanks for that :) . :P

I would love nothing more to add most of the suggestions that people have. However we are still a small team so it takes time to add even one item properly. They some of the ideas are really good, but not really what we think "Chaos" is. So we dont try to implement those. And I know every one has a different idea of what is "Chaos". So we try to keep an open mind about all ideas and have even implemented some that people have suggested. Now If we could do this for Real Life and not have to worrry about Jobs, Money, ect then we could be a lot faster at this :) Thanks again for your support and keep the ideas comming!

That would be my dream job -- to just map and make sound effects for a living... But getting there is the hard part.
