Is the melee system gonna use a weapon triangle?(Fire emblem GBA has one).
AKA:
Sword beats axe.
Lance beats sword.
Axe beats lance.
Or are we just gonna knock our brains out by slashing eatchother?
Weapon triangle?

Re: Weapon triangle?
It's actually a little more complicated. Our weapons go by some rules, each weapon has a different weight, speed, damage, blocking ability etc. and your playermodel can switch between three stances (light, med, heavy) like in JK. The combination of that gives you far more options like the stone-scissors-paper sceme.Scorch wrote:Is the melee system gonna use a weapon triangle?(Fire emblem GBA has one).

Re: Weapon triangle?
Well we took our best guess at balancing the weapons. One thing we got at the 11th hr was weapon speed. We made the choice not to add them in until we could play with them more (it would have delayed us another 2 weeks). So right now all weapons swing at the same rate. We had planned for the lighter weapons to swing a bit faster than the bigger heavy one. So what we did is each does a slighly different bit of damage. Each has a different chance of head shots and some weapons cover more surface area which means they are more likely to hit.Scorch wrote:Is the melee system gonna use a weapon triangle?(Fire emblem GBA has one).

I'm no coder, but I doubt that'll be possible. And if it would, we'd be opening doors for cheaters...Scorch wrote:By the way, in PR3, why don't you add a feature so that you can import your own weapons?
EDIT: BTW, LoQtUS created a pair of daggers.

mmmm heeh i was being a lil bit silly there i would never want that fast a swing..
but it would be nice to have basic settings tied to variables that could be changed via formulas which were dependent on stats
. teehee..
would be nice though. to be able to have personalised 3d models of your weapons. (jb ill email you soon again
)
say if i ever wanted to start a mod based on your wonderful code. would you let me?. (not that i know ifi could handle it.. just wondering if its possible. )
(id love to make a hand to hand combat addon for the game. as a weapon type.. ive been playing around with a few mods long enough to figure out which mods i want to understand now
and what i wanna understand is what you guys have done with the combat system as well as matrixmod and the kokatu or whatever they are called mods. to figure out how to make em compatible ... or what otehr ideas i can come up with. its much more fun mkaing the stuff then playing it
.. though playing it when its complete is a charm.. just that you always get new ideas
