I noticed when you move the camera up (reverse if your settings are inverted) it zooms in to your character (causing you to not be able to see what your doing) but at the same time it causes your character to raise his/her/it's weapon/torso. Which allows you to do things like block upwards/ dowards, direct your attack upwards/downards. Well seeing that and remembering the way some console shooters like golden eye/perfect dark/time splitters handles aiming when you press the aim key gave me an idea for something.

In those games your character moves their arms/gun correspond to where the aim icon is moving on screen, all the while keeping the same camera view (unless you move it all the way and force the camera to move).

So my point is, how about adding a camera swivel (is that what u call it?) option? Basically what it would do is move your characters torso/arm/weapon (instead of your characters body and the camera view), when you look up or down. It would be something you toggle so you can still look up and down freely when you need to.

The other idea was for each set of weapon types to have a basic set of attack animations for normal stance. Like a forward downward strike (all weapons), then a forward trust going forwards (swords, daggers? any weapon with a pointy tip).... act.

either that or there already is a camera swivel option in ut2k3....

well what do you know there is... but how do I use it?

im thinking control like in mechwarrior.. might install taht actually.. :)


anyway.. i like the camera options you have in unwheel.. and that you can swtich between em :)

behindview rocks for this kinda game though.. still would be nice witha very nice sinsde view :)

to be honest, camera views scare me due to all the complicated math. I mean cos, arc tan, Yikes :)

But when we get more time we can come back and look at this a bit more in detail.

I was thinking it would be really cool to have a cinematic view camera that you could switch to. Rather than a chase-cam, it chooses a random fixed point above and away from your character, and then looks down and follows the action until your character gets a certain distance away or leaves the camera's view (either by going off the edge or going around a corner, behind a wall, etc), then it chooses a new random fixed point to view the action from. Would be difficult to actually navigate a map in this mode, but when duelling, it would be really cool, since you're probably not going to be going too far when fighting (unless you're running away, which is a cowardly thing to do anyway). And of course this mode should be available to the spectators.

Wonder how tough that would be to implement though?
