qazz, I don't develop insane weapons (ok ,in reality these weapons
devastating)-if I HAD been REALISTIC, IT WOULD BE AN OVERKILL!!!
But I tried to edit the damage rate gameplay-friendly, although some
of them may SEEM to be powerful. But I made tradeoffs: for example
re-read the part with the secondaryfire of the Pumpgun - I wrote,
everytime you shoot with second. fire THE WEAPON WILL LOOSE A
LOT OF AMMO - so that forces the player to think before shootin' with
the secondary fire - that's the tradeoff. Or, I reduced the damage rate
of the Chaingun , although it uses the same projectiles like the enfor-
cer 2/3 - so I did a lot to balance the weapon properties. But if you
still think , the weapons I develop are too powerful, I'll respect that :wink:
And: These are only a "bit" of the weapons in my mind . The are 30
more weapons which I've in my mind - so you'll have the ability
to choose which of them is good...

I think weapon development is a thing which we cannot discuse with
topics... JB, do you have ICQ???? You can see my number in my
topics... that would be a better way to discuse ideas, isn't it?

yea I do have ICQ and can send it when I get home (about 4 more hours). Dont forget that some of your other weapon ideas were good to. I will ICQ when I get home from work. Thanks.

Wait, in 4 hours I'll be sleeping because tomorrow we'll write an English-
Test - and now I 'll have to practise for that (I've some problems in the
grammatical parts of English). But next night it would be possible...

BUT I strongly recommend you to install ICQ on the place where you're
workin' - because the way you say to talk, I can only talk 1 hour
(because 4 hours later it'l be 23:30 in Germany - that's too late!)
But if you haven't another choice I'll try to talk with you very late...
As far for weapon development the next days I'll have less time because
of the school but if I have time I'll imagine new weapons and send them
to you. I preordered Soldier of Fortune 2: Double Helix on Saturday.
Do you know the game? It rocks and if I get it this week I'll have less
time. But I promise you- you'll not be disappointed with me.
But now , do your work :arrow: go home :arrow: spend time for your
family (if you have one) :arrow: then go sleep (a good programmer need
dreams while sleeping to be fit and have fantasy)

However , perhaps I will call you on this forum once tonight! :)

Bruce,

I can not install ICQ. I work for a very large company and they have policiys against IM software. Sorry. Maybe we can try for this weekend or send a email or two? BTW I checked any my ICQ number is:

I got SOF2 and currently there is one patch that you will need. Mulitplayer is a lot of fun. Normally when I need a break from UT, I play SOF2 on-line. I am stuck about 3/4 the way through on the single player side.

Can't I play SoF 2 without patch on WindowsXP?????
(I hope it does not require a patch - because I hav no Internet connection

Sorry the patch is required to play on-line as it added an MP5, new maps and mission types. For single player i think it fixed some bugs but no, its not required. Sorry. Just want to let you know you will have to DL it if you want to play it On-line.

I'm thinkin' about gainin' some of my weapon ideas from this game!
JB, please tell me which system do you have (CPU,GraphicsCard,RAM etc.
) and on which settings you play SoF2 (Resolution,Graphical Quality)

Note: SoF2 runs on an Enhanced Quake3 Team Arena Engine:

So, here are Console commands for enhanced Graphical Quality for any
game using Quake3-Engine:
(Note: on most single player games you needn't to type the " / " -symbole

1.) /cg_shadows 2 = Volumetric Complex Realtime Shadows
2.) /r_subdivisions -1 = Enhanced Geometric Detail (more polygons)
3.) /r_lodCurveError 30000 = Enhanced Texture Quality
4.) /r_lodbias -2 = max. Texture sharpness (improved Texture Quality)
5.) /r_ext_compressed_textures 0 = Deactivites the Texture Compression
6.) /com_hunkMegs xxx = This option is relative to the size of your RAM.
Type always 7/8 of your total RAM.
Example: At 256MB RAM = Type 224 into console!
7.) /cg_drawfps = shows the FPS-Counter.

For those their card support Anisotropic Filtering, always use the max.
Setting (For the Radeon9700 this means 16x Anisotropic Filter), if it's
possible.

Bruce,

currently I have an 1800xp, 512 MB DDR and ATI 8500. I have another 2100xp, 1 GB DDR & GF4 Ti42000 however that is the kids pc for now.

I have not adjusted much of the settings via the command line. I do run at 1024x768 with all in game options maxed. I use 16x AF and x2 prefromance FSAA. I did not turn on the framerate counter in single. But in MP it hovers from 90 to 60 depending on the action.
