VERY Urgent Computer Help

Post by Surrealist »

I seem to have deleted the entry for .exe files in my file types list and now I can't open any programs! Please help this is insanely urgent!

The story goes: I wanted to change something for .exe files. I went to the file types list in folder options. I found there is no .exe entry, so I added one. This didn't help me, so I deleted that entry and then all .exe's stopped working.

Through help on other forums, I've worked out, that these don't help me:
System Restore (Didn't restore )
Start Menu > Run > Regedit > HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.exe (Couldn't run regedit)

I have been told I have a virus, but this seems to coincedental....

HELP ME!

That sounds bad.

Did you try to repair the installation?
Boot from WinXP CD -> choose install -> choose repair existing install
