dedicated server problem!

Post by amongoeth »

I tried to run a dedicated server and just host a regular internet game from my second computer and my first computer couldnt see the IP address,it would only show as a LAN game. Is there a setting i have to set in order to get a server to show up on the net?

thanks

There should be an option for "Advertise Server" in the server options menu.

Webadmin is just that, a web based admin site for that server. You said you aren't behind a firewall, what type of connection do you have? Please give me all the details, from incoming type, ie: modem/dsl/cable/etc and any and all devices connected on the network includig hubs, etc.. If you'd rather PM the info, instead of public, that's ok too. I'll be out till later this evening, but will respond then... ( EDT, GMT -5 timezone)

Sounds like you are on a router. And on a router, you cannot see your own outside IP from an inside network. I think it may be possible if you add this line under this heading :

[UWeb.WebServer]
ServerName=192.168.0.x

then you might be able to see it properly. Or maybe you need to put the Outside IP there instead, I forget. But I see the same thing you do when i run my server on my second PC. Only the LAN shows to me, the other doesn't. There's nothing wrong with that tho, so no worries, as long as you be sure that on your Server PC, you unblock ports:

7777-7779 - Game ports
28902 - Master Server port (so master server can find you)
