Bug Report Thread for CUT2: PR3.6
Bug Report Thread for CUT2: PR3.6
As always we try to fix every bug. But the sad truth is we miss some. Please report all bugs you find here so we can work to ensure they are corrected for in the next version.
Please note you need to have:
- UT2004 v3323 patch or greater (patch v3339 works with this but is not required)
- You need the ECE v1.0 downloadable bonus pack as well (ECE v1.1 works but is not required)
Thanks for your time.

I was mucking about in VCTF-ChaosBastion, driving around in the scorpion when all kinds of visual artifacts started to appear, and I had to exit before the game loked up my system.
The artifacts includef disappearing geometry, including the scorpion I was in, as well as "spike distortions" when a vertex is rendered massively out of place, resulting in huge spikes like stalagmites all over the place.
When I finally did quit (the hud and menus werent rendering properly either) I gor=t the following error text:
UT2004 Build UT2004_Build_[2004-11-11_10.48]
OS: Windows XP 5.1 (Build: 2600)
CPU: AuthenticAMD PentiumPro-class processor @ 1539 MHz with 767MB RAM
Video: NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200 (6177)
Linker object StrProperty XGame.ReturnValue is invalid
History: ULinkerLoad::DetachExport <- ULinkerLoad::Destroy <- (LinkerLoad Package.LinkerLoad) <- UObject::ConditionalDestroy <- (LinkerLoad Package.LinkerLoad) <- DispatchDestroy <- (15591: LinkerLoad Package.LinkerLoad Class Core.LinkerLoad) <- DispatchDestroys <- UObject::PurgeGarbage <- UObject::StaticExit <- appPreExit <- FMallocWindows::Free <- FMallocWindows::Free
What happened and how can I prevent it from happening again.
I personally suspect a GPU overheat, but that error looks more like the code is tryng to destroy something that isn't there. Or is that someting to do with the way the game quit?
Love the new MUG effects though. Keep up yhe good work guys!

azrael,
those types of errors are probably not releated directly to chaos. Usally artifaction corruption is something to do with the engine or the graphics card. If you always lock up in the same spot or doing a simular thing then its probably something we can help with. I get those random crashes every now and then too. Thanks for the feedback and let us know how its going!

The crash message can give you an idea of what the problem is, but it won't tell you the exact problem. For that you need to look at the log file. As far as I can tell, the problem you describe is either an engine bug (one that's incredibly rare), or a gfx card bug or overheat. Make sure you're running the latest drivers and whatnot. If it happens again, send us (or me) your UT2004.log file and we will tell you if its Chaos related or not.

yeah, I checked my log file and there was nothing unusual there, though it was kinda bloated due to being spammed mercilessly by ArialView errors.
However this:
and this:
were new.
I am now convinced, however, that it was a GPU fault and am very sorry for disturbing you guys
However this:
Code: Select all
Progress: Exporting DM-CE-Bounce!...
Warning: Missing Texture Texture ChaosMapItemzTexturs.Proxys.MetalProxyBustAL1
Warning: Missing Texture Texture ChaosMapItemzTexturs.ChaosItems.ChaosRingDungeonAL
Log: Exporting DM-CE-Bounce!.....Successful!
Code: Select all
Warning: Failed to load 'Material ChaosGraffiti.halprin': Failed to find object 'Material ChaosGraffiti.halprin'
ScriptLog: A tab with the caption Chaos Settings already exists.

Halprin's spray was renamed to Hal_beta. This means that you have bad setting in your chaosut2.ini. Maybe delete your current copy and then you will get the updated info.Code: Select all

Hmmm... Looks like you forgot to do what the readme said to do... notty notty... ;p Ya, just delete your ChaosUT2User.ini file and that should fix the problem. (Of course you will need to redue your keybinds though.)azrael wrote:Code: Select all

w00t! Another great-looking release for my all-time favorite mod!
But, um, I wonder if there was a problem packaging the .zip file? My ChaosUT2.log file shows LOTS and LOTS of missing packages, textures, sounds, etc., all seemingly related to the new features: ChaosBike, ChaosMonsters, ChaosVehicles, etc.
Let me know if you'd like me to email you the file, or post the relevent log messages here.
Thanks! You guyz are the shazboxxords! (Um, that means "good," right?)
Edit: Oh, BTW, the game itself seems to run fine. I didn't exercise any of the new (missing) files, though.

Thanks for getting back to me so freakin' fast!jb wrote:Torgo, thats not right. Did you get the full or patch? Umod or Zip?
I got the zip, full version.
And BTW, the CPP was missing its skin - I didn't notice it while playing, because I only had time for a partial DM botmatch.
I'm installing the umod ATM, to see if it has the missing files. Will report back l8r.

sounds like you have files in the normal UT2004 folders as well as in the chaos ones, and they are interacting badly. Or you installed the patch only and not the full when you really needed to do the full (patch will only upgrade from a correct 3.5 install, not anything lower and not ECE retail edition.
I make Darth Vader look like a teenage punk with a lightsaber.

Sounds plausible, maybe, I think. I do not have the retail ECE UT2k4, however, my first attempt was to copy the new files from the full zip version over the 3.51 version, not 3.5. 3.51 > 3.5, so maybe that's not the problem either?jeditobe1 wrote:sounds like you have files in the normal UT2004 folders as well as in the chaos ones, and they are interacting badly. I have a lot of custom maps installed. Possibly some utx, usx, uax, etc. files you're using got into my /ut2004 directories via one of those, and are sitting at a different version. Or possibly I installed something (the 3.51 patch perhaps?) into those directories by accident over the last couple of weeks. Anyway, this gives me some good leads. Thanks ... will report back later ....

Edit: My bad. I have no idea what I was thinking whenever this happened, but I had a lot of what can only be described as "crap" in my ChaosUT2\Music folder: .uax files, .ucl files, .u, .usx, .utx, you name it. This can only indicate that I really borked up an install at some point. Who knows what are the files that are residing in the places where these guys ought to be.
Well, it was good nyborg, man.
And, um, thanks for pointing me in the right direction to find the problem.
Edit again: Problem solved. Wunderbar! Thanks.

Epic Vampire Mutator Works Again
The built-in UT2k4 Vampire Mutator worked with CUT2 3.5 and stopped working with CUT2 3.51.
Well, something you guys did for CUT2 3.6 got it working again.
So whatever it was, thanks.
I like turning on the built-in Vampire mutator so you don't die as often. I like vampire better than regen because you actually have to hit something to get your health back and not just hide in a corner.
Thanks, again!
